Please don't pay attention

*"C'mon, don't be shy, it won't hurt." He comes near me and I take a step back.

"No." I begin to cry. "Please don't. Please!" I plead with him but he doesn't seem to listen.

My back hits the wall and my eyes widen. His smile widens.

"There's no where for you to go now is there?" His steps become slower as he reaches me. His back is facing the door so as soon as he reaches me, I kick his balls and make a run for the door.

"You little bitch!! Summer get back here!" I didn't listen, I didn't turn back.

"Summer! Summer!! Summer!!!"*

I jerk awake and I'm sweating profusely.

"Summer!' I hear my mom's voice from downstairs. "Don't make me come upstairs and get you Summer!"

"I'm up!" I shout back. I take the covers off me and I walk to the bathroom. I walk to the mirror and take a look at myself.

My hair's a mess, my eyes look like they are in shock, I'm panting heavily and sweating profusely, my hands are trembling.

I close my eyes and take deep breaths.

I finally open them after some minutes. I discard my clothes and go have a cold shower.

....

"Morning guys." I greet my parents as I enter the kitchen.

"What took you so long? It been almost an hour since I called you. Morning by the way." My mom sets my cereal on the table.

"Just tired." I sit beside my dad.

"You okay?" He asks me and I nod.

"I'm good." I fake a smile and he nods. I see my mom is still in her nightwear. "You aren't going to work?" I ask her.

"I have the morning off. Free till late afternoon." She smiles as she takes a sip from her coffee.

My phone beeps and I take a look at it.

"My ride's here." I say and I stand.

"Your ride?" My dad asks in confusion.

"Yes dad, my ride."

"She means Jaxon honey." My mom tells him.

"He still gives you rides?" He asks.

"Oddly, yes " I carry my bag. "Well, I love you guys." I walk outside and meet Jaxon in his car.

Instead of wearing black shoes, I decided to wear white sneakers and my hair's in a bun.

"Hey Jaxon." I greet him with a smile as soon as I sit down.

"Hey." He looks at me. "You seem different." He starts driving.

"Different?" He nods. "How?" He shrugs.

"Something's off."

"Nothing's wrong. I'm fine, I'm perfectly fine so you don't need to worry." I say and he frowns.

"I didn't say you weren't."

Oh shit.

"You don't have your blazer on that's why."

I've

Fucked

Up.

"Summer, is something wrong?" He quickly looks at me and turns to look at the road.

You and your big mouth Summer!

I mentally hit myself and I smile.

"Nope. I'm- I was- just saying that you know-" I trail off.

"I'm here if anything's wrong." He assures me.

"Thanks."

The remaining drive to school is quiet.

As soon as we get to my locker, the bell rings.

"Just so you know Hathaway, I know your fake smile from the real one." He speaks up.

I'm about to talk when I hear my name.

"Summerella!" I turn to see Chelsea.

"Summerella?" Jaxon and I say together.

"Yeah. So let's get to class. Hi Jaxon." She pulls my hand.

"Hi." He replies her.

"Bye Jaxon." She says again and pulls me to class.

"Chelsea?" I call her to her as we reach our physics class.

"Yeah?"

"What does it mean when a guy tells you he knows your real smile from your fake one?"

"It means he pays more attention to you than anyone else."

"Really?" She nods.

Shit.

"Why?" She asks as we sit.

"Nothing. I heard it in a movie." I say and I sigh.

Please don't pay attention to me Jaxon Prinston. You won't like what you see.
