It's nothing

"You've been acting weird since this morning, is everything alright?" Jaxon whispers to me.

We all are lunch right now and by 'all' I mean Chelsea, Austin, Jaxon and I.

I'm picking on my lunch. I look up to see concern on his face.

I had a freaking nightmare which has been making me uneasy since!

"Nothing." I smile. "It's nothing. I'm fine, everything is fine."

"You know, you can do anything else. Frown, cry, laugh, but please don't give me that smile." My smile drops immediately and I look down.

"It's really nothing." I mutter.

"Sure. I know you might be going through something which you don't want to talk about, but giving a fake smile in which may fool others but not me, isn't the right thing."

"So you think I should just be sad and hideous for everyone to see?" I slightly raise my voice but then I remember we are not alone.

Luckily, neither Chelsea not Austin heard me.

"No I'm definitely not saying that. What I'm saying is you shouldn't try to act like everything's fine when it isn't. It only hurts more." I sigh. "Instead of keeping it all in, you can try talking to something, or try writing it down. You can try shouting, anything just to reduce the pain."

"You sound like it's something you have experienced before." I chuckle lightly.

"What can I say, we all have our demons we are battling with."

"Yeah."

"But just know, I'm always here if you need someone to talk to. You can imagine me as your diary, your punching bag or your gisting buddy."

"Gisting buddy?" I chuckle.

"Yeah. I can tots be your gisting buddy." He says in a high pitched voice and gestures with his hands which makes me laugh.

"I think Chelsea has that spot."

"Well your second gisting buddy then." He winks.

"Thanks." I smile.

"Now that's the smile I love."

Okay what?

"What are you cows talking about?" Chelsea ask before I could question his remark.

"Why do you pigs care?" Jaxon says back and I laugh. Chelsea glares at us.

"Anyway," Austin draws the attention to himself. "Since we have acknowledged the fact that Jaxon and Summer are cows,"

"Heyyy!" I cut in.

"And Chelsea and I are pigs,"

"Duddee!" Chelsea hits his shoulder.

"Let's talk about Jaxon."

"Jaxon?"

"Why?" Chelsea and I say together.

"Yeah Jaxon why?" Austin turns to him while battling his eyelashes.

"Well, I have tryouts today. After school."

"Really?" I ask.

"Yeah. I really hope I get in."

"Don't worry you will." Chelsea reassures him.

"Yeah dude. Coach won't know what he's missing if he denies you."

"He's right." I agree.

"I hope so." He scratches the back of his neck.

"I'm going to be to there since I'm captain. So you don't have to worry."

"It's not like you want to be there, it's your obligation as captain to see your new team." I say and he smiles.

"Well you are partly right. But I also want to be there for my best friend."

"Either way, thanks." Jaxon says and sighs.

"You'll do great, trust me." I whisper to him and he smiles.

"I'll take your word for it." He turns back to his lunch.

What he said a while ago made me imagine what he could have passed through in his life.

Oddly, something in me couldn't wait to find out.
