"That's mine," she say walking up to me and stopping few inches away, she wasn’t holding the smile I always see not like I wanted to know the reason though. "Thank goodness, I've gone all round looking for it and here you are with it" she added and the smile returned.
"Is that so? Here you go" I passed it back to her and walks toward the receptionist to take my jacket.
"You read it right?" She asked but I ignored. "I called it how it feels to live before dying. My one last kidney have stopped working and ever since I heard about it I turned the book into how I feel." She said.
I didn't pay attention to all that she says and put on my jacket. "I will die"
"Don't you?" I asked and she gasped walking up to me. "You don't think I'm trying to make a joke do you, you’re not surprised too, but aren't you supposed to be shocked and say something to cheer me up? Aren't you gonna say anything?" She asked pointing her face at me, trying to bring out words from me.
"No" I answered straight as she paused her eyes widened for a moment i work Derek what she saw but was nothing until she starts to laugh like a maniac. I could only look at her not saying a word, she's always making noise, and I’ve judged that one.
"Sorry" she apologized wiping the tears off her eyes which came out due to laughter.
I sighed and walked pass her. "I need to go home, later" I bided leaving the hospital.
Walking down the silent estate where cars don’t always follow, I bumped into her. Again!
"What a coincidence" she waved leaning on the street pole.
I changed direction, "Then don't draw me into your coincidence" I warned but she still followed me behind, we followed the blossom tree arena where every spring there seem to bloom and it will soon bloom.
"Do you like blossom tree, I bet the Japanese call it 'sakura'?" She asked catching my pace; I nodded and started to walk faster than her.
"Hey wait!.... I can't wait for spring to come" she yells running to catch up with me until we got to a road stop. I know she's okay now, so I do not need to escort her home, "hey Seth, on Monday we'd meet up again. There is new Japanese ---"
"--- No thank you" I cut in turning to the other side. "Sure okay, I would be waiting okay" she yells ignoring my rejection and waves at me, I just stood there wondering what’s up with her, she doesn’t even look like someone who will die, such an expensive joke.
I told her i am not going, I wished she'd understand what the doctor had said to me earlier. ‘I will see to that' The moment I got back to my apartment, I warmed up some leftover pie and took the piles instructed by the doctor, after that, I took a warm shower, put on my pyjamas and switched on the TV, ready to play some XBOX when my phone alerted a message.
Checking the sender it came from her.
Receiving the message it started with a voice note. "Hey Seth, hope you got home safely. I'm home already, I couldn't call so I sent you this, accept my warm regards. Thanks see yah on Monday, goodnight friend" she giggled at the end of it.
I couldn't just open it without a reply. She's really a pain in the ass. I quickly typed her goodnight and sweet dreams sending straight it to her.

Monday morning, I got a text from her saying not to forget where we were meeting, I replied with 'fine' getting off my bed yawning and stretching to strengthen up. I really wished to go back but I just couldn't.
I got ready like always and left home with just a sip of tea and nothing more. I felt so empty.
Reaching the restaurant, Rebecca ran to me, I noticed the uneasiness in her look. I couldn’t remember telling her about my illness the last time we met. "I heard you were in the hospital on Saturday, had I wish.."
Wait! Hold on! She heard! Who must have told her? I wanted to ask her a question but she was looking worried sick about me.
How many times do I have to tell her I don't keep friends but she kept pushing herself towards me? "I'm fine, it was just a mere headache but I'm fine now" I said and watched her sigh in relief. "Thank goodness"
I didn't say a thing after that and walks to the kitchen without a word to Michael, I could tell how much he wants to reap me dead with just his glare. If anyone is to ask me why I didn't like making friends, Michael makes me more of a misanthropist, deep inside, I need some but I couldn’t have anyone by my side anymore, and If I get the chance to speak with him, he wouldn't even want to look at me.
I got set and ready to cook what so ever they ordered, a menu was dashed on the table at my face and no one other than Michael could do that. "Dish it, and make sure they appreciate it" he ordered arrogantly. I just hoped he was not trying to tell me that I didn't know how to cook.
He was just about to step out when I called his attention. "If you think I don't do it well, why not take the post back. I can happily leave the work for you, I hate levels" I said to him calmly, he puzzled and turned to me like he was trying to grab my collar but then stopped.
"Are you trying to pick a fight, slogan?" he barked.
I shrugged "only if you try to push me" I smirked watching him grits his teeth in anger; he couldn’t hold it so he nudged me so hard. "Don't test my patience" with that he left.
I breathed in and out before returning to my work, checking the menu and preparing, just as I was being ordered to. Everything was going smoothly turn after turn.
*******time skipped********
People then gradually starts to leave after eating. Monday was a working day so many people came around to discuss business issues, friends hanged around and teenagers on dates, i chuckled at my thought. Teen eh!
i resting on the flat sofa waiting for an order but there was none, until Rebecca entered. "Seth" she calls
"Yeah," I answer.
"Someone is looking for you" she says pointing outside; I wondered who was the person looking for me so I asked. "Who is it?"
"A young lady...with.." My ears popped open, 'a young lady?' , I sat up, don't tell me__ Damn I nearly forgot that little pest has somewhere to go. "Are you okay Seth"
"I'm fine, I'm coming out now," "sure" she replied and left. I stood up, removed my apron and put on my coat before walking outside.
I looked around if i'd see her until i saw someone waving at me, by the left end corner which turned to be her. "Seth!!!" She calls out.
I froze, knowing everyone had turned to me, they all know what i am like so they'd get the wrong idea here. 'Just how in the world did she know where I'm working?
I stomped my feet to where she sat and sat with her.
"Hey" she greeted.
"How did you find where I'm working?" I asked being so serious, maybe she'd figure out how wrong she is but that didn't help.
She stared at me for a moment then grins.
"Secret"
She whispers......
