Chapter 4

Today is a Saturday, a resting day and i was hoping she's not going to call or text me out again.

I sluggishly left my bed to have a quick shower and then came out after half an hour wasted.

I felt so weak!

Yesterday after we left the cafe she didn't just head home, I followed her round, she played games, took some pictures with the street statues.

She's really a pest if you ask me.

My phone rang like three times, I didn't bother to check the caller so I continued making my breakfast.

It then ring again and this time, frustrated, I picked with an annoying sigh. "Don't tell me to hang out with you again?" I said over the phone thinking it was her but to my greatest surprise I heard a guy’s voice asking what I said.

I quickly checked the caller ID and it was Jamie, a friend of mine. I won't call him friend but just a mere person to me. I cleared my throat and returned the phone back to my ear. "Sorry, I thought it was somebody?" I said. "What is it? Why did you call?" I asked.

"Nothing precisely I just thought if it’s okay if we go some whe--"

"I'll pass" I cut him shut, I don't feel like going anywhere and I told him countless times, I don't want to keep friends because they are not in my agenda of life living.

"Seth, quite playing stupid, I'm coming over to your apartment, there is someone I want to show you"

"Jamie I don't need-"

"You need to be friends, now get ready it’s just a stroll" and with that the call ended.

I stared at the caller ID for more than a second wondering why he was always beside me ever since high school, anytime I was bullied because I didn’t care about anyone, he was always there to protect me. He was very strong but I repaid him, by asking him to stop playing tough around me.

But instead he was even becoming closer to me each seconds of a day.

Jamie was really serious about him showing me someone, he had arrived at my apartment right after I'd dress up ready to come meet him but I heard a knock on the door.

"We should get going" he said when I opened the door, I was willing to shut the door at his face, disappoint him but no matter how much I pushed him away, he would never give up.

I sighed. "Fine let's go" I said coming out and shutting the door behind me, walking side by side with him as we left the apartment.

"So this person you talked of who is he?" I asked.

"It’s a she, my girlfriend." He said smiling; it was really nice for him having friends and even having a soul mate.

I can't say how happy I am for him.

"So do you have one?" He asked me and I shook my head. "I don't have time for any, Jamie-"

"Come on cut that shit Seth, do you still want to die being a misanthropist child, don't this life-"

"A virtual world is far better; if I can just go in and live then I wouldn’t bother myself. Jamie, I can tell that even you need to stay away from me."

"Hmm, your still silly" he said walking ahead of me as we reached a park where we met a girl sitting down with her golden hair fallen on her face.

"Emily" he calls as she raised her head, waving at him before standing up "Sorry I made you wait" he apologized.

"It’s okay, um.." She paused as her eyes met mine, probably thinking who it might be. "Oh Emily, this is Seth my close friend and Seth this is Emily." He introduced us.

"Nice to meet you, Seth"

"It is my pleasure" I replied shaking her hand.

Jamie led us out and straight to a breakfast restaurant, it wasn't really my thing.

They discussed a lot but I tried not to join in their conversations. My mind was set on a novel I was reading while the two soul mates had their conversations.

Engrossed in the novel I was reading, I didn't notice that Michael and Rebecca had entered, raising my head to the familiar voice, I saw them and they saw me. "Seth!" Rebecca called walking towards me.

"What are you doing here?" She asked.

"Hanging out with my friend" I said pointing at Jamie and Emily.

"You came along with Michael?"

"Yeah to have some breakfast, anyway see you on Monday." She waved at me running towards Michael. He didn't say a word to me and I didn't.

I was then getting bored so I stood to go. "I will be leaving it’s a pleasure meeting you Emily".

"Sure" she replied.

"Where are you going to?" He asked turning to me.

"Nowhere actually or... Home, I need some rest okay" I said and he nodded. With that, I walked out living the both of them there.

I walked down the street feeling likely dizzy due to a headache which i don't know how i got it.

Stopping a cab and asked him to take me to a nearby hospital to check myself, he immediately drove in a normal speed to the hospital.

I paid up and tried my best to make it to the receptionist and then I was asked to sit and wait for the doctor.

Not long after I sat down, the doctor came over to me. "Seth Jackson right?" He asked and I stood up.

"Come with me" he says gesturing me to follow him.

He asked me to sit on the wards bed, examined my heart beat, temperature, tested my blood and then results were all negative.

"You aren't sick, but just felt weak because you’re lacking rest, do you by any chance used to being wrapped up?"

Indeed, she had made me escort her but I didn't feel tired. "No I take part time job in a restaurant"

"Then you should probably take some rest for a week so you can fully be strong. Here, take this piles every morning and night, one each" he said passing me a tablet that looks like a paracetamol but different.

"Thank you doctor. I may take my leave"

"Sure" he said nodding to me, I walked out of his office and back to the receptionist to take my book and head home.

Something well decorated caught my attention on the floor; it was so amazing book which doesn't have a name on it but decorate with some flowers.

I picked it and opened it to check if it had a name but there was ink writing, a human writing different from a computer font.

I flipped over to the back and my eyes caught the book name. 'How it feels to live before dying' I wondered what that meant,

I flipped to the middle page to read what was written. I felt my body go numb.

'Dear diary'

it’s someone's diary?

But what was it doing here? I thought about reading it when I came across three words that shook me. 'Kidney disease, stops working, and die' my eyes widened as i felt my knees weaken.

I shouldn’t have read this. This is… this is...

"That's mine" a familiar female voice said to me from behind, turning my head over my shoulder. I saw her.

Indeed she's the one. The girl all along I've been escorting.

April?
