CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Some weeks later, Adaku and Emeka were discussing in the classroom when suddenly, tears began to stream down Adaku’s cheeks.
“Ada, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?” Emeka asked, concerned.
Adaku stared at him and tried to put herself together. She could not explain what was happening to her.
“What happened?” Emeka asked.
Adaku wiped her tears and said, “I don’t know. This has never happened to me before. What do you think it means?”
Emeka thought for a while and said, “Maybe there is something that weighed heavily on your heart and this is the only way to let go of it.”
“Honestly, I can’t remember any such thing. But I hope that’s the cause,” she said.
Emeka went home after school and was surprised when his stepsister, who has been away in a boarding school, opened the gate for him.
