CHAPTER XLII

Brea is running away from her home, the baby in her arms who is only a few days old crying loudly. She hugs the baby closer. They can't afford to stop. A painful scream echoes behind her. It is coming from inside her home, a home she swore that she would never visit again. She wants to bury all her memories from that place. She will leave this town and change her name. She will no longer bear the Blackwood name and bury that name deep in her past. Brea keeps running along a path that cut through the forest. After gaining enough distance, she stops. She gazes affectionately at the baby in her arms. The baby is wearing a locket necklace. She puts the locket on her palm. With her thumb and index fingers, she pulls it open. Shown in it is a photo of a girl and a boy. "No matter what happens, you should remember your parents, and when the time comes, I will tell you everything," Brea whispers to the baby.
