A Guy From Africa

"So how did the date go yesterday?" Sofia asked Audriana "I am sure he couldn't take his eyes off you when he saw you in that dress" she adds.

They were in Audriana's apartment but in the kitchen, cooking pasta and turkey balls for lunch, Audriana handled the pasta while Sofia handled the turkey balls.

“I would have changed if not that you had to wait with a threat you will ruin my apartment if I did change, I had no choice but it went okay, it was a perfect romantic date and it been my first made it awesome, the guy is a hopeless romantic. I loved it and enjoyed myself a lot” she smiled.

“So… is it official?” she asked.

“What is official?” Audriana asked.

“You guys, Dumbo! Are you now official?” Sofia asked with wriggled brows.

“No,”

“But you just told me how much you enjoyed the date yesterday” she stopped what she was doing to look at her friend. “Did he probably mess up or said something you didn’t like?” she asked her friend.

“No, he didn’t, I can’t just be his girlfriend because we went on a date” she shrugged.

“Seriously Audri?” Sofia said.

“What? Do you want me to lead him on? The day before I accepted his proposal, he asked for just one date and it is my decision if I want us to move to the next stage, and aside from that, Mum was a bit worried because I never mention anything about meeting someone and I don’t know, but I just wanted to know how dates go and to see if this one date will make me want more for us, but sorry to say, it didn’t really change anything. I still see him as a friend” she explained to her friend.

Sofia nods in understanding and continues with what she was doing. As much as she wants her friend and Philip the be together, she won’t want it to be one-sided, Philip likes Audriana so much and for him to have waited that long for her to accept his proposal, it was genuine and she doesn’t want to force her friend to love someone, she takes for a friend. To be on the safer side, they better be just friends so Philip doesn’t get heartbroken.

“I understand, but tell me how it was, I want to know every detail”

“Fine” Audriana explains everything that happened, from him, coming to pick her up to their matching clothes, to the beautiful garden and the date.

Sofia squealed when she heard a part that interests her.

“Oh my gosh, that is super romantic, did you get pictures?” she asked.

“Oops, no I didn’t get any”

“Why did I forget my friend is camera allergic and she is a total techie," Sofia said and earned a light smack on her arm from Audriana.

"You deserved that," Audriana said when Sofia gave her a playful glare.

They were already done cooking and Audriana dished the food for them so they took their plates to the sitting room to eat.

"I met someone," Audriana said.

"Someone? Who?"

"A guy, his name is Aji-- I think it is pronounced Ajibula,"

(it is pronounced 'Ah-ji-bo-la' but she pronounced it as 'A-ji-bu-la')

"Is that a name?" Sofia asked.

"Yeah, he is from Africa, Nigeria to be precise. I am telling you he is like a tech god, he is so talented and I learned a lot from him"

"Really? I didn't think there would be someone brilliant than you"

"Oh come on, there are thousands of people out there who have more knowledge than I do, we just have different stacks we focus on. He actually told me he is working towards starting his Tech company, I did give him some advice on my experience since I and Dad started Bernand Tech together, everyone is talented in their own way. I did enjoy his company" she told her friend.

"Okay, even though I don't understand what you are saying, where did you meet him?" she asked.

"When I went to Bernard Tech on Thursday, he did have an interesting story. I asked the head of the department how he got employed but unfortunately, he isn't our engineers, he was invited to look into the issues we are trying to tackle, because he was the best in the company he works in"

"Wait, you guys are facing issues at Bernard Tech? Why didn't you tell me?" Sofia asked, feeling annoyed.

"Sofia you already have a lot on your plate and the issue at hand is just a little and would be sorted soon, I don't want you worrying about my stuff when you have a little to worry about"' Audriana said.

"Audri girl, I am your best friend, I am your sister, partner in crime, BFF, I know I have a lot on my plate but letting me in on what bothers you isn't much for me, even if I can't help I would be there to crack boring jokes and makes you laugh and hug you when you need one so badly, please just let me in, okay?" she said, holding her friend's hand.

Audriana smiled and hugged Sofia and she reciprocated it.

"Thank you, I am glad we have each other, and please don't think too much about it okay?" Audriana said.

"Yas, mama," Sofia said.

"Are you done yet?" Audriana stood and took her plates to the kitchen.

"No"

"Okay, I want to sleep, I need my rest," Audriana said when she was back from the kitchen and headed to her room.

"You sure do, see you in the evening," Sofia said and continued eating.

“And you too,” she said and continued to her room, closing the door behind her.
