Reinier was taking a shower whilst Gwynette and Carlson went out for a while as they were both hungry so they quickly grabbed a snack somewhere near from here.

Piolo and I were the only people left in his room.

"Is it a nice book?" I nodded whilst keeping my head down, focusing on the book I was holding.

He pushed the book lightly, in order to see the title.

He let out a soft and short laugh, "Secret relationship? What's the story about?"

"A CEO is in a secret relationship with a café barista," I replied shortly.

He laughed again, but this time, it was shorter than earlier.

He didn't bother me again for he knew that I don't like it when someone's disturbing me whilst I read books.

---

A friend of Reinier's invited us to her party. We were outside and we could hear the loud music. We hurriedly went inside, eager to experience the fun.

As soon as we got inside, we parted ways like we always do. I was in front of the long table, checking the liquors. I smelled a familiar scent and when I realized that it was Diana's, I shut my eyes for a while and clenched my jaw.

Not today, please. I want to enjoy this night, I said to myself.

As soon as I turned my body around, she bumped unto me accidentally. I held her shoulders for her to not fall.

"thank..." She faced me and her mouth was left open, "... you" She finished. It's as if she didn't expect me here.

She was about to speak, her mouth was open, but she decided not to, and just shrugged.

She slowly walked away. Hmm, that's odd.

I was having an argument with myself, whether if I should follow her or let her be. But the curiosity won and so I followed her wherever she was going.

I saw her sat on a chair, alone, whilst drinking her beer. Then suddenly, a guy walked towards her, put her hair behind her ears, and kissed her cheek.

That's why she didn't bother me earlier. It's because she has finally found a guy for herself, I thought. I let out a deep exhale as a sign of relief. I was about to leave when something happened that made me stop.

The guy who was with her grabbed her wrist and it was visible that she was hurt.

I sighed. This is the last time I'll save someone, I reminded myself.

I quickly walked towards them and forced the guy to face me. He was as tall as me but my body proportion was bigger and better.

He looked at me from head to toe. He stared at me fiercely, "What?" His deep voice startled me.

"What are you doing to her?" I asked calmly. I swear to God, I'll never let my curiosity win again next time. My question made him infuriated. His stares were much more intense.

He turned around to face Diana like he didn't hear what I said. Thank God he didn't punch me. I glanced at Diana who was already staring at me. Her eyes were telling me that she needs help.

I exhaled slowly. Please, Ethan Jace. Don't let yourself be in trouble again, I talked to myself.

"Diana..." I called her name even though she's already looking at me. The guy stopped pulling Diana, which means I got his attention.

"Do you need my help?" She stared at the guy and back at me then she slowly nodded.

I pushed the guy lightly and I took Diana's wrist from him. He was taken aback for a while like he couldn't believe what I did. He smirked and what happened was so fast that I realized I fell on the ground and my lips bled. I stood up and punched him back. Diana was behind me, screaming and telling us to stop and asking for help. I saw a glimpse of Zyrine farther from where we were fighting. She was just standing there whilst looking straight into my eyes. He punched me in my eyes and my sight was immediately getting blurred.

I heard my Piolo's mad voice and Gwynette's scream. Reinier helped me to sit down. Diana was looking at me with worry in her eyes. Reinier glanced in the direction I was looking at and he opened his mouth. He clenched his fist, ready to hurt Diana, however, I was quick to grab his wrist to stop her from hurting the young lady. He stared at me, he raised his eyebrows and rolled his eyes after.

I'll be in big trouble later, I told myself.

I slowly walk towards Diana. I pulled her closer and hugged her tight.

She was desperately taking my arms off her whilst crying hard. Within a minute, she finally has given up and cried so hard, not minding the people who were watching us as if this was a live show. I pat her head and put it on my shoulder.

My friends were looking at me like I'm some stupid guy. Well, I guess I am.

She calmed down after a while, "Thank you."

I lifted her chin up, "No problem." I smiled at her. Tears began to escape her innocent eyes again. I felt a glimpse of sadness in me. Diana and I would've been happy until now if only things worked out for us.

I tapped her back softly and ready to leave. I still owe my friends an explanation.

"Why are you doing this?" She quietly asked.

I turned to face her.

"You're my ex, Diana. Yes, we did hurt each other but it was from our past. Being my ex doesn't mean that I'll not lend you a hand if you need help." Her frown was turned upside down. I bid her goodbye and went to find my friends.
