Nullifying cloak

The station was beginning to fill up with daily commuters as the time came close to the departure of the first train. There was a regular hubbub of the increasing crowd.

Orion who was hiding in the corner behind a small booth was feeling a little relieved, whether or not these commoners provided some hindrance to his pursuers, at least it was better than being alone in the empty subway.

He was hoping for Asahi or Ai to catch up. They were his last hope. He had killed two humans today, luck or not, adrenaline or not. Murder was murder, he couldn't convince himself to go against anyone else again before even getting out of his mental trauma.

He was breathing heavily trying to concentrate his mind on the current situation, but again and again, his mind began to show him flashbacks of dead guys. His act of pushing the knife into him, his icy stare, fear in Guy's eyes.

Suddenly, he felt something strange as he perceived his surroundings.

'SILENCE'

Complete silence. Two minutes ago, it was all the usual noise but now unexpectedly everything was entirely silent. Suddenly, his breathing became fast, his heart began to beat faster, his pulse picked up.

His mind was telling him to turn around and raise his head from the booth window to peep at what is going on. But his instincts were screaming he should not because the result would be what he did not want to occur.

He gathered his courage and lifted his head from a crouching position to see. As expected everything was empty, abandoned like he was the only person in this place.

The same feeling he was getting, what he experienced in the States, for the first time when he entered the Facet world. As he was observing the abandoned station, his eye fell on the bench on which a person was seated.

The person was seated with his back towards Orion, so he could only observe his light brown dyed hair and black coat.

"Come on, I am waiting man! Do you seriously think I can't find you?" Said the man with a black coat.

He gestured his hand beckoning Orion, without even turning back. Orion controlled his fear and stood up to walk towards him.

He reached his chair and turned to see him fully as he stood in front of him. The man was tall, fair-looking, and was wearing a black tuxedo.

He was sitting with one leg upon his other, and there was a small smile on his face. Another distinct feature about him was, he was carrying a long metallic trident which was casually thrown in his lap.

He stood up and lifted his trident to his shoulder carry and greeted in loud voice,

"I am Mitugh, nice to meet you Orion Trudger!

I hope we could meet under some other circumstances but this is your cue. Show me what you got otherwise this will be the end of you."

Orion wanted to talk,

"Look…."

But it looked like Mitugh was very serious about his leisurely thrown words.

The wind slapped his face like a knife when he felt the trident swinging before him. The force behind the casual swing was so much that air generated from the swing was stinging in his face.

He quickly shuffled back but he was unable to accurately measure the reach of the trident as the next swing hit the blunt side straight into his waist.

Orion felt force rummaging through his body as he coughed out to stabilize his body. He looked above to see this time Trident coming straight to his neck, intending on piercing through it.

He almost subconsciously dropped down to avoid a fatal blow but instead of getting respite for a few seconds what he got was a kick straight to his jaw throwing him on the floor with blood leaking from his mouth.

Mitugh swung his trident and this time pushed it straight towards his head. Orion felt the trident just pierce through his skull when abruptly it stopped a few inches in front of him.

"Seriously, I am feeling extremely angry right now."

Orion opened his half-shut eyes to see visible anger on his face.

"No, no not at you. I am angry at your father. The man who single-handedly shook the world.

I know you are normal, like no magic."

Orion's eyes widened a little. If he knew then why? Why was he aiming to kill him?

"I felt it the moment I pulled you into the facet world, there was little to no magic on you except your small ink.

But I was hopeful that, that man could never leave his son behind defenseless in this world.

But here you are just a few inches from your death. I am angry at him but sorry for you kid.

I have taken a bounty for your death therefore for no personal hatred I had to finish you right now. Ask your dad if you find him after death, why he would have to f*ck you like that? "

Orion can easily feel his annoyance and rage from his words. Therefore when he in a one way announced his death he just closed his eyes to accept his outcome.

Maybe he would ask his father if there is an afterlife that is. Maybe he would ask him why he was deemed a terrorist. Maybe….

Mitugh shook his head in disappointment as he watched Orion close his eyes and accept his outcome. He was still expecting something, like zeal in him to face him off but looked like he expected much more from a normal child of just 19 years.

He didn't want to kill him painfully thus decided to just clog his windpipe to drown him. He raised his hands and a thin stream of water coagulated in the air which he directed to his body.

Suddenly as the water was about to touch his body, He immediately lost control over it as it fell on his face like a splash.

Orion who was about to lose himself in sleep suddenly woke up with a start as water splashed on his face. He was confused why he was waking him up, to torture him before killing perhaps.

"Hmmm….?"

Mitugh was surprised by this unexpected development, next he held his hand to conjure long sharp spikes of water above Orion.

He then sent them flying towards Orion. Orion quickly lifted his hands to cover his head as a reflex but it was of not much use already known by Orion as well as Mitugh.

As the long spikes came in the close range of Orion. Immediately, a terrible blast occurred at point-blank range as these spikes were destroyed and Mitugh was thrown back to the distance.

As he was falling back he stabbed his trident on the floor to break his fall and land safely. The trident dragged a few meters to break the force of himself being thrown off violently by that blast. But as he established himself there was suddenly a small smile on his face.

Orion also saw the explosion but he was confused about how it happened. He shakingly stood up and felt the same as before there was no magic presence in or surrounding him.

"Hahaha, ….. I was right. So, you indeed gave him something to rely on.

Magic nullify cloak and that too such strong, tch...tch….so many favors."

Orion was not able to keep up with his words but one thing was certain he had some kind of protection or technically expensive protection.

Mitugh lifted his trident and soon it began to glow in blue light with water swirling around its body.

"Hmm, that's why he was unable to block physical attacks but magical attacks are unable to harm him.

Ok, let's see what you have planned if I broke his cloak. How much longer it will last without a recharge,

One strike, two-strike, or ten strikes. Then he would be dead, I promise."

The glow in his eyes was blazing like he had taken this challenge as much more personal. He immediately dashed and in the next instant, his glowing trident was already striking Orion's head.

He was even unable to detect him at his full speed, as he only felt when he was whipped by the Trident. But as expected, the trident stopped forcefully a few inches before him, and despite pushing hard Mitugh can't force it deeper.

The recoil came second later as he was tossed back with the almost same force, colliding with one of the pillars of the subway breaking some of its bricks.

He was not at all discouraged but jumped out a second later to once again resume his attack on poor Orion who was first time witnessing something actively protecting him.
