005 A Companion

''Goddamn it I'm not gonna make it!'' I hissed as the blue dot on the map reach the dead end and was currently stuck while the rod dots was making it's way towards it. I was thankful that this corpse aren't runners, a different type of zombie that can ran as fast as a cheetah. They have mutated legs that doesn't look human and it will be a pain in the ass if I ever encountered one. Somehow only common types of zombies have appeared like this slow moving ones, and I'm grateful for it but at the moment I need to run faster. This person is going to be a complete goners if I didn't make it in time.

I forced myself to run even faster and I was starting to feel some exhaustion yet I don't have time to look at my stamina, my eyes were glued to the blue and red dots on the map.

"Almost there!" I exclaimed then finally I reached it. The other side of the dead end.

I could hear the corpse's growl from the other side and some distinct whimpers yet I can't figure out if it's a male or female but right now their gender won't matter, I need to do something.

My eyes roamed the tall brick wall, it was within 8 feet yet it was thick so I can balance myself on top. Now the only problem is how to climb it fast.

I hysterically looked around and to my luck, found a crater nearby. I hurriedly went to it and push it against the wall then backed away.

I'm going to use the crater as a stepping object to increase my momentum and try to reach the top, climb and try to grab the person from the other side. It was easier said than done though. If I even manage to climb would the person behind this wall even gonna be able to reach me? This was seriously a very unsure plan that have a high percentage of failing but it's all I've got. The red dots are four meters away from the other person and I can't waste any more time.

I inhaled and started running fast, my step echoing hard on the pavement before I exerted all the strength I can manage in my foot and jumped as high as I can. Relief swept through me as my hands reached the top and I easily pulled myself up and as I thought, the wall was thick enough for me to not fall over on the other side but I shouldn't be happy yet, the harder part is about to come.

"Hey!" I screamed, catching the other person's attention and maybe some unwanted attention as well. More growls echoed and out of nowhere more zombies came out going after the person below.

'Welp shit, my bad' I lamented then shook my head.

"Hey you, can you try and reach my arm?" I spoke more calmer to try and not call out another bunch of unwanted attention. The person from below looked up and I can't decipher if it was a male or female, short hair up to it's nape, flat chest yet a petite figure but none of it matters now. The person reached up with trembling arms and I was glad to see that he/she was also stepping on something high. I grabbed its hands and used all my strength to pull the person up. To my surprise the person was so light I easily lifted him/her up without much effort. I don't know if I'm really in my true body right now but I guess the game increased some of my body's original stats.

"Are you alright?" I asked unsure, checking to see if it had any wounds on its body yet there appears to be none which is good.

"T-thank you" It stuttered and now that I heard its voice I confirm it was a female.

"No problem, come let's get down on the other side" I suggested and she gave me a nod. I got down first then remained stepping on the crate, raising both of my arms to aid the girl from getting down. She let me hold her waist and I slowly lifted her up and put her down.

"You must've been scared" I commented when I noticed she was still trembling.

She nodded her head slowly, clasping both of her hands behind her back.

"Are you injured?" I asked even though I checked for any injuries earlier, just making sure.

She shook her head and kept looking at her feet.

I seriously don't know what to do at that moment. Comforting a person ain't my thing, both physically and verbally and she was a female nonetheless. How do you comfort females without any physical contact? I don't want her to get some weird ideas about me yet I also don't want her to think I don't care.

"Uhmm..."

My attention went back to her and she finally raised her head. Her bangs covered her eyes yet I can see they were a dark shade of green, emerald perhaps. They were also a bit glassy which meant she might have been on the verge of crying earlier, well I'm not gonna judge that, if I was in her situation I'd be feeling hopeless and grief. She had light freckles covering her cheeks and nose and it was almost hard to see because of her slightly tan complexion.

"What's wrong?" I asked in concern. Her lower lip trembled and she got something out of her pockets then handed it to me.

"I-its not much but its the only thing I have right now.." she stuttered. I extended my arm curiously and she placed something on it.

"Candies?" I asked awkwardly.

"W-well it heals 5 SP and 10 HP" she explained, her voice a little panicky and her cheeks tainted pink.

I looked at the 3 candies in my hand then put it back in her hand.

"Consume it, I know you needed it most" I stated before looking at the map.

"We should get out of here and find a safe shelter before it gets dark" I explained, pointing at our current location at the map.

The person stared confusedly at my arm then looked at my face with a frown.

"Why are you pointing at me?" she murmured.

"What?" I asked in confusion. "I'm pointing at our location" I added which made the frown on her face go away. She smiled timidly and pointed at the ground.

"You mean this?" she suggested.

'Oi what's going on? Don't tell me she can't see this green screen infront of me' I thought confusedly. I chose to try and hide the fact that there's a green screen infront of me and just nodded at her suggested.

"That's right, this is our current location and we need to get going then find a safe place to stay for the night" I exclaimed and started walking away with her tailing behind me.

'I don't understand what just happened back there. How could she not see this green screen?' I lamented as my eyes looked at the map.

'Am I the only one who can see it? Does other players have this too?' I questioned once more but I can't find the answer myself. As I was too engrossed in my train of thoughts my watch suddenly vibrated and a notification popped up making me stop on my tracks.

{SP lower than 20, would you like help to find refreshments?}

Lower than 20 huh? I must've been running like crazy earlier, she was pretty far after all.

"Yes" I answered then the watched vibrated and white dots appeared on the map, one particular dot was not far away from us so I decided to head that way.

"Yes?" I heard her ask. I grimaced and realized she couldn't see the screen so I laughed awkwardly and scratch the back of my head.

"Sorry I was thinking too hard that I started answering loudly" I explained briefly. She nodded her head and continued to follow me calmly.

I wonder why she can't see the screen, maybe I can try to find out later.

I now stood infront of a large mall. The dot was a few meters away and it looked like it's inside. No red dots were near so I entered without hesitation but my companion looked like she have some doubts.

"Uhmm, it's really dark inside...are you sure we're safe?" she asked timidly, her eyes scanning the place.

I sighed and smiled at her. "Don't worry, I assure you we're completely safe"

Her face was still hesitant but she took a step inside and continued to follow me. I was relieved that she trusted me, a stranger who can do anything to her any moment now but it's not like I'll do anything, I'm not really that kind of person. I've had my wet fantasies about woman yet I'm not really interested in engaging into any of those fantasies at the moment, my brain was way too engrossed on figuring out how to survive this 'Game', I don't have time for those things yet I can't say the same about other players.

We kept going inside and this time I would say it's thanks to my luck, cause the mall wasn't a safezone yet there were just a few zombies and they're all mostly on the underground floor, the ground floor was clear and I finally reach my destination. The dot lead me towards a snack bar with food and refreshments. There were juices, water and even beers in cans. For the food there were chips, flavored bread and some sweets, I would say it was paradise yet it's not like the snack bar was fully packed. The food were only few, it just happened to have a lots of variety, same goes with the drinks.

"Woah! Do you memorize the whole place?" she suddenly asked in amazement. I just laughed and nodded hesitantly even though everything was thanks to the watch. We both sat down in a corner and eat to refill our hunger then filled our stamina next. We couldn't finish everything so we decided to bring it with us cause I planned to not stay in one place for more than a day, I want to complete some task that I still haven't figured out where to find.

'Maybe I'll stay up and figure it out later, for now I'll keep on the lookout and find some items we can bring' I thought while scrolling through all the available panels I can open in search for the tasks that won't seem to reveal itself.
