Mae groaned as she stood between Baas and Fon in the shadow of the alleyway across the street from the Kaldi'fa Headquarters.

"I'm surprised the two of you managed to get up this earlier," Fon remarked with a snicker and a broad grin.

"No thanks to you," Baas sniveled, looking a bit worse for wear.

"What are you even doing here? After that little stunt last night, you should be on the other side of the continent," Mae added as she rubbed at her eyes. "If it was cloudy out, you'd be drowning right now."

"Oh, come on, it was just a bit of harmless fun. The two of you needed to loosen up a bit."

"What we needed was to stay focused!" Mae shouted as she charged Fon, slamming her against the wall, grimacing at the volume of her own voice. "What were you thinking?"
