A Father’s Concerns

~Chapter 92~

"A son?" Karanosi gasped at the news. "When? How?"

"I refuse to answer the how, but when, during my first stay in the Quarter," Mae replied, unashamed, even while under his scrutinizing gaze.

"The father?"

"Diastin."

"Nimaro's host?" he questioned, his tone an indication of his attempt to confirm what he already believed to be true.

"That would be the one," she replied, taking a breath as she leaned forward on the couch. "I'm certain you have plenty of questions, but seeing as how I probably won't have answers for most of them, I'll say this. I kept his existence a secret for his safety as well as my own. Knowing more will not make it easier to keep silent, but your honesty with me, deserves mine in return."

"Will you allow me to meet him?"

"What?" Mae looked up, shocked by his question. "You want to meet him?"

"Of course." His expression softened. "Even if he is half ji'vie, he is still my first grandson."
