Kyurn groaned and stretched, sitting on the opposite end of the bench seat at the front of the wagon from Mae, with Ven sandwiched in between.

"I never thought we'd get out of there," he remarked, while picking something out from between his front teeth.

"Quiet," Ven remarked, smacking him across the arm. "Even with the noise of the wagon they still might hear you."

"But he isn't wrong," Mae added quietly. "I appreciate the Cyb'nyk helping with the permits and paperwork, but the pomp and ceremony wasn't necessary. I despise the way they treat everyone like a curiosity to be examined, but Vahkageen parading you and Nimaro around like trophies was eating at my last nerve."

"Right…" Kyurn smirked at her from behind Ven's head. "Are you certain it had nothing to do with the women fawning all over him?"
