Unsettled

~Chapter 126~

Mae stood just a few feet from the stall, admiring the line of people and the way Ven was busy displaying the last of their masks, while Hagi was behind the counter taking payments and packaging them. After a few seconds of watching, noticing the masks being taken down almost as quickly as Ven could hang them, she made her way over to him.

"Glad you made it back," Ven remarked, sounding less than pleased.

"A necessary delay. How can I help?"

"Help Hagi. Forget stringing the ribbons, just stick them in the bag with the mask, while Hagi collects the payment."

"Got it," she replied before making her way behind the counter.

As Ven had instructed, Mae packaged the masks handed to her, adding a strip of ribbon in the requested color to the bag, while Hagi handled the money, and soon they had cleared out the line that had formed as the last of the masks were snatched directly from Ven's hands.
