East of Vaughn

~Chapter 131~

They had been flying along silently, when Kyurn began to descend beyond the Andrak mountain range, east of the city of Vaughn.

Mae hadn't given much thought to their situation, unable to push Diastin from her mind. Regardless of loving Nimaro, it was Diastin's face she saw when he looked at her; his eyes, his smile, his akress, his cheeks, ears, nose, lips, hands, feet, body, tail. It was his back she would ride on. His strength that carried her. His arms that held her. She'd slept at his side and had his children. She knew his body as well as she knew her own. She'd given him an akress band; a promise to stay as his partner even after Nimaro was gone, and now, because of her, because of where he died, she wasn't even certain that he could rest at Aoden's side. Moreover, she knew how devastated Jasper must have felt, and she was nowhere capable of comforting him. And Nhaju, she would never get a chance to even hear her father's voice.
