Down by the River

~Chapter 135~

After letting Strativar down, Hidai wasted no time in running into the wide, slower moving area of the river several feet from where he had left Mae and Strativar standing on the rocky shore. The water was already too cold to properly bath in, and the extra chill in the air made it less than inviting, even as the fog only lingered near the edge of the forest and in small patches further upriver.

As Strativar stood with his eyes affixed upon Hidai, splashing around in the deepest part of the water, Mae moved over to where several small boulders had been moved just off the trail, pulling a pair of scissors from her bag, along with the clothes she'd brought for him, setting them on top of the nearest rock, before swapping out of her armor and into the white robe she'd been wearing the night before. While it may not have been the best robe for the occasion, it felt more appropriate than armor, at least until she had the opportunity to change.
