Snowy Opportunity

~Chapter 139~

Winter had begun to set in. The first snowfall of the season had come early. It was but a light dusting that melted away as soon as it touched the ground, but the shimmering beauty of pink falling snow made the reality of their situation vanish for a few minutes.

Mae had been holed up in the hunter's cabin with Baas, Strativar, Kyurn, and Pyde for seven days. Athilaan had been moving between there and the Quarter delivering news, updates and supplies, and Kina'Volrinn had been checking on them once every two days, to ensure his patients were following their prescribed treatments.

It wasn't a bad way to live in the short term. It was comfortable, warm, and there was plenty to keep them occupied. Baas had even made a run back to Vaughn to pick up a few Admark jobs to get Mae and Hidai out of the cabin for a few hours every day; to give her break from the increasing strained tension growing between Strativar and everyone else.
