Mae and Baas had been waiting patiently at a ground level café across the street from the base of the caridon tower with Rolduen and two of his men when at long last, the expected caridon could be seen making its final approach.

"It seems the time has come," Rolduen said as he stood from their table.

"Indeed," Mae remarked, standing along with Baas and Rolduen's men. "It's nice that we've had this time to speak though. This next bit would be so terribly awkward otherwise."

"I agree. And I apologize once again for overstepping."

"Think nothing of it. Considering your longtime friendship with my brother, I can't exactly hold your loyalty to him against you," Baas replied before finishing the last of the water in his glass and setting it back onto the table.

"I'm glad you can understand."
