Chapter 10

There I was at the front of the basement listening closely for a sound . I reached for the door knob , struggling to open it but found out it was locked .

My hair pin .

Yes I quickly reached for it and removed it . I know very well that I was doing the wrong thing but I just can't help it .

It took a while before I could open it . I looked inside the basement it was dark . Maybe there is nothing special about the basement like I thought and I was wasting all of my precious time .

I was about to close the door when I heard the same thudding sound . I should have run away like before but I didn't . I walked into the darkness with a double mind .

Moving closer I saw the silhouette of someone sitting on a chair and facing backwards . I swallowed a gulp to lubricate my throat .

What would someone be doing in our basement and how long ? .

I want to see who it was . I brought out my phone quietly almost not making a sound .

The light shined brightly that the person turned facing me .

It was a boy !

He used his elbow to cover his eyes probably because of the light but I didn't remove it .

I was scared and surprised.

Soon , he adapted to the his environment and blinked a few times before he could open his eyes .

Oh my Goodness !!!

He was as dirty , he has swollen lips , his eyes were almost closed and his lashes where wet , his eyebrows were extra long and super unshaped , he also had a scare on his eyes .

He was scary .

I should run away as fast as I can .

I took a step back and soon more steps back and I raced down to the door in speed I ran and locked the door with the padlock and ran upstairs .

It's almost 4am . I can't even read properly I kept thinking of who I saw .

I haven't seen anybody like that in my entire life. Am sure she is aware . Is this what she has been hiding ?

I was not able to sleep either I just stared at the mirror looking at my scared face .

Maybe I shouldn't have run away . He will feel bad and sad .

What are you saying I should have borrowed legs and run as fast as flash . It was 6am in the morning and I was still wandering I heard a sound down stairs ran outside of my room to see what's going on .

My cunning aunt gently open the basement and entered I watched her entered with a bucket and came out few minutes .

I went back to bed . As I heard her coming closer to my room , I pretend to be asleep and I shot my eyes tightly .

She gently enter my room and I felt I sink . She's on the bed . She removed my hair and stuck it behind my ear .

" Gyacie "

I don't want to answer her . She shook me slightly then I rub my eyes with the back of my hand in pretence .

Looking at her she was so pretty and I wonder why she didn't have a second husband . She was ready for work as usual every Friday she went to work and come back late .

" Won't you go to school ? "

" Yes I will " .

" Get ready and make sure you eat breakfast before leaving okay " .

I only nodded and she left home just like that .

I hurried down to school . I was not able to think well at all I tried to focus but I can't .

The test came and I write all I could remember . I was sure I didn't do well . I can't wait to get the results and see for myself how good I am.

I walked around the school bumped into him again .

" See miss you really need glasses ".

" I see , you need as well ."

" look who is talking " .

" Excuse me what did you say " . I crossed my arms around my chest .

" I don't really know " .

He better don't really know . I brushed passed him as my shoulder hit him I think he said something but I don't care.

Getting to class our test results was passed across to us .

I flipped through the note and so do others . I saw a six .

I checked the name to be sure it was not my book but it was . My name was written boldly .

" So students I have been wasting my time teaching you and this is how you repay me with failure " .

Mr Ren look at the class with angry eyes and those eyes fell on me and it changed .

" Gyacie come right here " . My eyes shot wide open as I look down at my feet . Did he just call me? Or am the lowest .

" Gyacie !"

I walked towards him .

" Face the class " .

I looked at the whole class . Some where happy Most of them had that self satisfied smile on their faces except for some one at the extreme of the class room .

" Students she was the only one that had the highest score in this class " .

Yeahiii am the highest hurray .

That means no one got more than five .

" Gyacie that doesn't mean you did well " .

" I know , I promise I will do well next time " .

He only nodded

" And that applies to you all " .

He said and left the class .

I looked back at the boy at the extreme of the class who had no expression on his face but he wasn't there anymore .

I wonder where he disappeared to .
