[Rei POV]
Next are the Kekkei Genkai blood samples.
I have thirty-seven samples from the Yuki clan, so I start with those. I place eight test tubes with the sample blood in all three centrifuges and start them simultaneously.
A few minutes later, the centrifuges stop and I eagerly take out a test tube and start to analyze the sample by mobilizing the atomic microscope again.
'What are these?' I exclaim. Inside the cells of the Yuki clan blood sample, I could see some mutated genes too; seven to be exact! However, these mutated genes are not the same as the Otsutsuki genes. They seem fundamentally different; like comparing a circus lion to a wild one.
It's not the strength I am talking about, it's the attitude! The Kekkei Genkai genes appear to be serene and tame whereas the Otsutsuki ones are wild and aggressive. From what I am seeing, it appears as though even if I try to introduce these active genes into someone else, I probably will still fail to create a Kekkei Genkai user but the test subject is highly likely to survive the experiment too! Unlike with the Hashirama cells where each and every subject died…
Also, why are a couple of genes in Tsunade's blood more similar to Kekkei Genkai than Otsutsuki's? I had already noticed it when I first analyzed her blood sample, but at that time I thought it might be because Senjus are different than Uchiha, their genes might act differently too. But now I see that I was wrong…
Actually, if I think about it now, it does kind of make sense. She is not a pure Senju and has the Uzumaki bloodline too. So, the Uzumaki clan, along with the Ashura bloodline also has other mutated genes that are similar to a Kekkei Genkai! Is this the reason for mutating the self-healing ability of Senjus, which became something else entirely allowing them to treat others by letting them bite? What a weird mutation! It would have been better if I had another Uzumaki sample for reference, isn't Uzumaki Mito buried somewhere in Konoha? I would like to try later...
Just to make sure I am not generalizing based on just one sample, I start to analyze the other Yuki clan samples too. But they all turn out to be the same with them having seven mutated genes. I was able to get all inactive and active genes from these samples too. There is even a sample that has all seven genes active! That is the blood sample belonging to the current Yuki clan patriarch.
With this, I am confident in creating a clone that has the Ice release Kekkei Genkai. Although, I am curious; if I make a clone with my Otsutsuki genes together with the Kekkei Genkai genes from the Yuki clan, what would the resulting clone be? Will it have both Sharingan and Ice release? Or some weird mutations will happen like the Uzumaki? Another thing on my to-do...
Next, I place the five samples from the Terumi clan inside the centrifuge and repeat the same procedure. Terumi clan is a special clan, the members of this clan have one or in some rare cases like Terumi Mei, even two Kekkei Genkais.
When I complete analyzing all the samples, I am able to confirm that the Lava Release Kekkei Genkai contains six mutated genes and the Boil release has seven. Therefore, Terumi clan members have a total of Thirteen mutated genes in their bodies. Most of them are inactive and need a lot of practice with the said Kekkei Genkai to progress further.
Fascinated by the revelation, I start to analyze the other samples. It seems that a Terumi clan member is able to activate some of these genes as they grow up. If they activate a gene that belongs to Boil Release, they will acquire Boil Release Kekkei Genkai. Similarly, if they activate a gene belonging to the Lava Release, they can get that too. But the most fascinating one for me is, a clan member may appear once in a while who can activate both of these genes and acquire both Kekkai Genkais. This proves that multiple Kekkei Genkais can coexist inside a single body and that both can be obtained by the same person!
'But why? why have these genes mutated in the first place?' This question is way too important to me. It might be my way out if I want to mutate more genes without having to devour chakra fruits in the future.
The Otsutsuki use the ten-tails to draw out the chakra from the entire world to create a chakra fruit and by eating the said chakra fruit they gain more power and abilities, or in other words, more of their genes mutate.
The important part here is the Chakra! they use the massive chakra from the entire world to gain more power. However, the Kekkei Genkai seem to have used a different route to achieve similar results. One uses the sheer Quantity of chakra whereas the other uses Quality obtained by merging multiple chakra natures to change their genes.
This wild attitude of the Otsutsuki genes might be a potential reason why Uchihas or the Kaguya clan members get injured for using their own powers. I mean it makes sense because I have never heard of any Kekkei Genkai user getting injured by their own power like the Otsutsuki descendent clans.
If I want to mutate more genes without chakra fruits, the problem I have to solve now becomes, how should I improve the quality of chakra to a level where it can mutate more genes?
With that, I have three ways to move forward once I complete the activation of all Kaguya genes.
1. To extract and inject active genes from other Otsutsuki bloodlines; basically devouring other Otsutsuki bloodlines.
2. To use the quality of chakra to mutate my genes, I.e Kekkei Genkai route.
3. Finally, if none of the other solutions work, using Chakra fruits!
None of these problems have been solved yet. But I still have time, and I have faith in my abilities to search for a better answer.
