Chapter 10: Calamity
"Stop haunting me… I have already apologized to your family." It was a dream.
To be more exact, it was a nightmare. Since it had been showing off the bitter and painful past, the man could only clench his teeth and glare at the deceased.
It was strange, though.
Those nightmares had been assailing him for more than a week already, day by day! It was rare to remember dreams and even nightmares, but the man could feel this nightmare as if he was actually in another world.
He could control his body flawlessly… Remember this nightmare upon waking up… And think calmly before the deceased rushed at him…
"ARRRRRR!" The very deceased rushed at the man, his mouth widely spread like a beast. The struggle of two men began just now!
From afar, the gray-haired man suddenly appeared in this nightmare.
His eyes looked at the struggling man with big interest within, his hand holding the chin.
This short man got spotted by the man fighting against the deceased. While the struggle was painful and hard to deal with, Vis' appearance had turned into a sort of blessing.
He was short, eyes pure with interest and his looks were even amiable. Because he was short, people could think of him more as 'cute' than handsome.
Nonetheless, the man shouted, "Elf! Happy Elf! Help me!"
"Happy Elf?" Vis laughed faintly, "Had it been the former prince, he would've been already jumping on you. Fortunately for you, you are just a small piece of the experiment. Bear with this man, and good luck."
"With Happy Elf's blessing, I will be able to endure any pain!" The man shouted.
Hearing this, Vis uttered to himself, "How delusional can you get?" He waved his hand and blended into the darkness which was dominating in this dream.
Of course, the dreams could be filled with beautiful colors, but this dream had been evoked with Miku's powers. She used those regularly because it was her way of getting stronger.
Vis wouldn't allow her progress to stagnate as it would break her cover. His plan had been to go to Blessed Archipelago ever since he learned about it! She needed to get stronger with her both energies.
Her abilities were also useful for Vis' training.
First of all, he learned more about the energies coursing through one's body and how to properly feel those. By feeling his own power, Vis began to make great progress in his own techniques.
Then, Vis nurtured the connection he had with his second servant.
Today was the first time he had entered someone else's dream. Vis looked at the 'spiritual' bodies with great interest, but also because he wanted to see through Miku's technique further.
She just had fed herself somehow, but Vis couldn't tell how. His eyes didn't detect anything else other than two men fighting like drunkards on the ground.
"The Blessed Archipelago… I just want to get here and hunt down all necromancers…" Vis stretched himself in one of the inn's rooms. Although he sounded ready to challenge the whole Lula Clansmen, Vis knew that at most he would hunt down people similar to his servant.
Those people were at a level where he should be able to feed on.
Vis also wanted to use that bitch Blue Icewing, "Her body is at least three times mine, and if not Soul Collector's powers, she would be even bigger. I can't even raise her skeleton's power because I lack death energy…"
It just took calamity to strengthen the servant of the Soul Collector, but Vis wasn't such a person. He would rather hunt down necromancers that were his excellency's enemies and roam the world in search of even more enemies.
But there were many groups of people that Vis could feed on. This world also didn't lack monstrous beasts and other calamities scattered around the world.
He wanted to go to the Blessed Archipelago, but his way was blocked by an army that had been preparing for calamity already.
It was the reason why Vis stopped his adventure and just rented the room in the inn.
"You have it easy, don't you?" Vis glanced at the white-haired woman sitting on the bed.
His voice and question brought confusion to Miku's eyes, "I don't. Master doesn't let me use my power to the fullest." She pouted and tilted her head.
"Keep your back straight," Vis didn't want to see her head rolling with a loud, exclaiming voice, "It would raise the suspicion of this army… And what was the origin of the calamity?"
"The World's Hate, Master." Miku nodded. Her eyes on her master.
Why was his hand raised? Not like her head would fall off!
"Yeah, World's Hate…" Vis glanced outside the window. He was still in the area cursed by the snow, his whole vision white.
The World's Hate was explained by Miku earlier today.
She told him that the world hated how people got too much power and opposed it… Because of that, various natural calamities haunted the whole world! People with mediocre origins had it the worst, though.
'Looking back into memories of the fifth… I can't seem to recall the calamity in Merthic Empire… But I heard about some at the borders… Hmm…' Vis thought.
But then, the ground and the whole city shook heavily.
It seemed like the giant just stepped on the world!
As Vis jumped a little on his chair, he blinked a few times, then his hands extended to the window. Opening it widely, he looked far to the north! His eyes then saw the big silhouette coming closer.
"Isn't there… an army? This is the calamity? Miku!" Vis turned behind, his servant's head already rolling on the floor.
"Woooo!" Her voice is cheerful like never before, "It's big and it should be yeti. Big Yeti."
"Big Yeti? But the calamity should be lifeless! It's the world's hate, right?" Vis probed further!
"Calamities take after living creatures, Master. They also tend to use other living creatures too. I can't tell from this place." Miku replied flawlessly.
"Alright. Since the calamity has arrived earlier than estimated, grab your head and we are leaving!" It was time to face the first calamity head-on!
