Whispers

*-*

"Laurie, who are these people?" Kristina asked, pushing her dark glasses that were covering half of her face.

With two large Louis Vuitton suitcases with her, she was eyeing the other girls who were starting to pile up at their VIP table at the Mabuhay Lounge.

Mrs. Tan's secretary sent the plane tickets to the girls accompanied with a note saying that their meeting place would be at PAL Mabuhay Lounge.

It was just her and Kristina who met outside the airport since they decided to use her driver. Apparently, Kristina's driver took an off from work because it was his daughter's birthday.

Laurie doesn't mind picking up Kristina at her grandmother's house since it was on the way to the airport, and also because, with the ten people who were invited for her bachelorette party, it was just Kristina who is her actual friend.

The rest of the girls were some daughters of her mother's friend and some random classmates. Two of them were Andrei's cousins that she hasn't met in her life.

However, she wasn't complaining since the whole trip, including the two days shopping spree, was fully paid for by Mrs. Tan — her future mother-in-law.

Andrei, her husband-to-be, was MIA and she doesn't care. They haven't talked since last month because he couldn't commit to the idea of doing something to stop the wedding preparation. It irked her to the bones that Andrei left her to deal with his mother!

"The twins were Andrei's cousins. You know Pomela, she is the only daughter of the Chos."

Kristina nodded because she is quite familiar with Pomela. She was her elementary classmate. The kid that always buys the same thing she has.

"The girl with purple hair was a cousin of Pomela, I heard she grew up in Cebu. Didn't hear anything about her," she wrinkled her forehead.

She went to an International School in Cebu city, and most kids whose parents have money knew each other, for one way or another they get invited to each other's birthday because of their respective mother, but she didn't hear a thing about Pomela's cousin that she introduced as Marnie.

She invited Elize since she happened to be in the country despite not talking to her after their high school graduation. They were not close but compared to other girls, she could consider Elize as a friend since Elize's mother helped her when she ran away from home when she was ten years old.

The sisters Janna and Tanya Tiu were also invited because her mother wanted her to invite them. Apparently, her second older brother has some business dealings with the Old Tiu.

To complete the invitees, she also asked Beatriz Lim, and Sophia Montefalco. Both girls were classmates from high school.

Laurie chuckled inwardly, thinking that she gave Mrs. Tan the excuse of throwing an early bachelorette party because her friends were on break from university when from the attendees of her party, it was just Marnie and Tanya who were still in university.

And the two girls were not even her friends!

"This bachelorette party of yours, why is it so early?" Kristina crossed her long legs as she gave her a questioning gaze.

She averted her eyes, and they landed at Pomela and Marnie who were occupying the table on her right. The cousins were clearly talking about her, but they gave her a sweet smile when their eyes met!

'Bitches!'

She returned their smiles before she answered Kristina.

"You are a good friend and I don't want to lie to you, but at the same time I can't tell you anything," she said.

"Can't tell me?" She arched her perfectly shaped eyebrow.

She pulled Kristina's elbow when her voice raised up and caught the attention of the other girls at the table.

"Yes, I can't tell you now, so I would appreciate it if you don't ask me — because I don't want to lie. I promise to tell you all about it in due time," she patted her arm, in a gesture to calm her down.

Kristina has the tendency to make everything a big show because she loves attention. One that is focused on her. She is nice and a loyal friend, just that she is an attention whore. Nothing she could do about it. Everyone has its own flaws.

"Promise me that I'll get all the juicy details about it before these bitches, okay?"

"This is not some kind of a freak show!" she hissed under her breath.

"That's where you are wrong Laurie." She smirked as she glanced at her, "Everything about this engagement of yours, sounds and looks like a freak show." She whispered the last part of her statement.

"What do you mean?" she asked, confused.

"That thing about you Laurie — which I love because it makes us a really good tandem — is that you like doing questionable things but you hate the attention, which is the opposite of me." She smiles broadly, feeling proud of herself for being an attention whore.

"And what does it have to do with the current situation," she was still confused with what Kristina was saying.

"Lately, there are some talks about Andrei that —" she looked around the table and when she saw that the rest of the girls were busy doing their own thing. She twisted on her chair to face her.

She stopped when she saw Elize quietly reading a book next to her. She pursed her lips, pointing at her.

"Don't mind her. She's safe." She gave Elize a quick glance and returned her attention to Kristina.

"I can hear you, you know," Elize said.

Kristina opened her mouth, feigning surprise.

"Oh, for fuck sake. Elize won't open her mouth —"

"How do you know I won't open my mouth?" she asked cutting Laurie off but her eyes were still glued to her books.

"Just shut up, Elize. And you -" she nudged Kristina's waist, "Tell me what you know."

Kristina pushed her to Elize's side that made the other girl give her a murderous look, but she just smiled at her then, whispered, "I heard that Andrei is with a guy!"
