GOD’S STRENGTH

Exodus 15:2

The Lord is my strength and song, and he has become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him a habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

In November 2009 I wasn't working and Youth Camp was in a few days away and I wanted to go. The Sunday before a church sister came to me and asks if I wanted to go and I said yes. She then told me to pack my suitcase because the fee already had been paid.

I was so elated. When the day came I find myself with no money to pay my bus fare to church, now I live off Molynes Road and the church is on Texton Road near Maxfield Avenue. At this point I got so frustrated and discouraged, I cried my eyes out and when I was satisfied, I got ready, get my suitcase, and hit the road.

Yes, I walked from Molynes to Maxfield. It was an hour walk, the sun was hot... I did this because nothing was going to stop me from going to camp.

While walking down I was thinking why my God, why things are so hard I wish my life was different from what it was at the moment. During my pity party these words came to me:

No, I never walk alone, No I will never be in need. Though I never calm a storm or a raging sea, you crucified and you gave me life.

Lord hold me close to your side And keep me as the apple of your eyes

Though my life seems so hard in the midst of the storm and the tear no one sees or my broken heart, you are my life.

You take away my pain and I find sweet relief, you carried my load when you went on Calvary. You wash away my sins with your blood.

These words remind me that no matter what season I am going through, I am not alone, though th8ings seem hard God is still in control and always there. When you set your mind and heart to doing something, nothing can stop you

As Christians, we have to have determination, perseverance, and self-will to walk the path that God Havre called us to.

God will give us His strength to run the race. He said in His word in 2 Corinthians 12:9 my grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

He encourages us in Joshua 1: 9 to be strong and of good courage; be not afraid neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

In other words, God is always there for us in the good times and in the bad times. We can be strong, knowing that God always has our back.
