Sleepover (2)

The night was cold as the cold wind touched my naked skin. I was awakened by the sweet sensation that came from the window as I realized that I had forgotten to close the door.

"I thought I closed it already!" I murmured and slowly reached for my slippers.

However, as soon as I stopped in front of the window made up of glass, I was effortlessly stunned by the fascinating sight. The moon was shining brightly and the calm sky was covered with millions of stars that lightened up the whole town.

Deep like a typical well, I took a breath, place my hand on my chest, and stared at the moon for a couple of minutes. It has been a long time since I saw it from my room.

I was once used to watching it with my family every night and how I wished I'd cherished those precious moments like it was our last bonding together. I never knew it was the last moment for all of us. I'd ignored the signs and now, I lived in a complicated world surrounded by good and evil people.

"Such a beautiful memory that stuck in my head until now," I whispered to the cold wind and let it brush softly into my skin. "I should have cherished that moment with them." I regretted it until this time.

Even though years had passed by, I couldn't still accept the fact that my parents were both gone. I knew they were in heaven, looking upon us from above.

"Ugh, I hate drama!" Exhaustingly, I rubbed my nape and moved my head in a circulation motion. I would usually do it every time I felt uncomfortable and thirsty. I swallowed greedily as I hoped to stop my body from craving for it, yet, it didn't make sense at all.

I then took a deep breath, looked up at the wall clock, and was petrified the moment I've seen the time with my eyes wide open. "Exact twelve!"

Since I was younger, my grandmother once told me about the legend of fascinating creatures in the world that ever existed. She told me that every midnight, werewolves and vampires would appear out of nowhere and search for their victims when they needed something fresh and fragrant.

They won't stop until they had enough of the humans' blood and flesh that helped them throughout the years. Their strengths, immortality, and perfect faces rest on powerful blood and meats that they had never tasted before.

And Grandmother said that werewolves hid from the humans the moment their King betrayed his beloved wife and married someone else who came from a far, deserted village, thousands of years ago. But when the right time comes, they would live in our world and be disguised as human beings.

At first, I was hesitant to believe in her stories, but not until I'd realized the same way of thinking.

"Don't scare the hell out of me, Grandma! I… I couldn't get rid of those werewolf stories in my head!"

To my horror, I quickly closed my eyes, bent my knees, and prayed for a second. I felt thirsty and I must go to the kitchen no matter what.

"Leave me alone!"

"They are not real! They were just imaginary creatures!"

I tried to be still, but I would end up desiccated. I lived in a world where advanced technology became the humans' everything and a single werewolf would vanish so quickly with the use of it.

After a short panic, I'd earned enough strength and stood firm. Slowly, I looked straight into the door of my room, took steps forward as I held back my breath. I'd tried to concentrate until I fearlessly opened the door wide open and went straight into the kitchen.

Upon my arrival, I quickly grabbed an empty glass and took out the pitcher of water from the refrigerator. I chugged it like a thirsty dog without hesitation.

"Ugh, it's refreshing inside."

My body was calmed. And I saw the empty kitchen with my naked eyes. However, when I looked into the sink, I remembered that I wasn't alone in my house. Someone insisted and accompanied me through the velvet night.

And I felt embarrassed the moment it flashed back into my mind.

"What if we sleep together tonight?" he repeated the question with a smirk on his lips. I knew he has something in his mind, but this is my house–I have my own rules to be followed by any guests.

At this point, I can't let him sleep with me in my bed. It shouldn't happen at all and I must at least keep something for myself.

"I said no!"

"Why? Are you afraid that something might happen between us?"

The smirk on his face suddenly turned into a mischievous smile. He knew how to tease me; my weakest point and I won't deny the fact that he was completely a perfect man who lived in the modern world.

But what should I do? He was my boss and I should have had to impress him until the contract ended. I needed Lisandro and as long as Andrea tried to regain her strength at the hospital, I would do everything in exchange for money.

"Come on, I'm not going to eat you," he told me and looked into my eyes intently. Well, he seemed serious, but I didn't want to surrender everything that I have. I'd wanted to be a noblewoman who preserved her dignity until the end.

But I shook my head in disagreement. I shouldn't let him sleep in my place in the first place.

Yet, Lisandro has no other plan but he wanted to stay with me tonight. He then walked closer to me, reached for my hands, and slightly caressed it that activated the wild side of me.

"I maybe took you for granted, Andy. But right now, let me pretend to be a gentleman. I… I am serious." he whispered that almost tingled my system. It was one of the best feelings I've ever felt and I wished it would last until the very end came. "I promised, just a sleepover."

Lisandro gently kissed the back of my hand that brought goosebumps all over my body. How I wish we could sleep together in my room, but I would never break my promises to my parents.

"I'm sorry, but I can't for now," I told him calmy and I walked back into my room, catching my breath because of the strange feeling within my heart.
