Testing my Prowess

As soon as I have made my decision where to land my attack, I instantly activated my other skill, the Single Slash, to atleast help me to penetrate his high endurance.

Slash!

Wooossshh!

CLING!

CLIng!

CLing…Cling…cling…

Only the sounds of my sword that fall to the ground registered in my ears after my vision went black due to the intensity of my attack, rather due to his high endurance.

Class: Novice

!!! WARNING !!!

*Your HP is below 10% of you total HP

The same very moment I regained my consciousness after that attack, the notification instantly popped again in front of my face.

But this time it is not about me getting an upgrade or anything that benefits me.

Instead it is about me, dying. Dying without having accomplished anything.

I know that he is a strong opponent since its The Prodigy we are talking about here.

However I'd never thought that it will come into this that I'd almost die by my own attack, and all he did is blocking my attack and I was put into this position already.

Am I that useless?

Am I that weak?

Those are the only two question that I ask myself while recovering from that damage. I know there is always still a room for improvement, but why do I feel hopeless?

Will I be able to achieve my dream by being this weak?

After talking and blaming myself for how weak I am, I saw Hanji slowly walking to where I am sitting and extended his arm towards me.

* God's Favorite Candidate: Hanji Kozuki

Level: 11

Universal Title: The Prodigy

Current Number of Doors Open: 15 doors

HP: 1720/1720       MP: 630/750

Class: Palladin I

"Hey Aziel, are you okay? I'm really sorry for that, I didn't expect that you will try to forcefully break my defense."

He in an apologetic tone.

"You know, this is part of my skill as a Palladin, as a tanker, It is a passive skill that gives me the ability to automatically produce a counter attack when I was in a Standby mode not a counter attack that I move tho, it is like just like a bounce attack that release a total 75% of the total prowess I receive from the attacker."

He explained to me while doing a handsign for me to understand better.

But even without the handsign, I can understand what he is pointing at.

I am not that smart before, maybe it is because from the buffs I receive when I was blessed by the Goddess Frigg when she acknowledged me to become one of her candidate.

"By the way Aziel, do you have any idea what is your current strength right now?"

He ask while scratching his head.

"Is it possible for me to know how powerful I am right now? can I measure it in number? As far as I can remember I can atleast cut a fifteen inches thick branch in just one swing before I became a candidate, why do you ask?"

"What? does the Goddess or anyone from the camp atleast guide you to where or what do you need for the things you need to climb and open the door of the tower?"

He asked while searching something from his bag.

"Actually, you are the first candidate from the camp after my Acceptance. so my answer to your question is No, the Goddess only told me to come here and to meet my supposed to be trainer, which is you."

I answer in confusion, is it possible that the Goddess wants me to learn everything from Hanji? What is her plan for me? Why did she entrust me to The Prodigy like this.?

Arrghh, my questioning habit once again strike me.

"Here take this, that is just like a manual that will tell you everything about being candidate, there's also a map there that will help you to find what place you are looking for."

Upon browsing the scroll and the booklet that he gave me, I learned that there is a place where you can learn a new set of skill, for a specific class/job, as well as to change or upgrade your class depending on your experience.

You can switch your job any time you want however the price is high. It will require you double the experience you currently have.

For example, in case of Hanji, if he wanted to change class from Paladin to a Swordsman, he needs to pay for a total of level 5.5, which means he will back to level halfway of level 6.

However, there are some set of skills he acquired will remain, but a less powerful than before. Also, the stats he acquired during his time in his Palladin class, will remain, but only in a quarter portion.

So basically, if you are an Archer before, and you acquired a total of 100 agility, once you converted to a Palladin, the 25 agility will stay in your body.

Therefore, it is also a win-win situation to occasionally change your class to become stronger in all aspects of your stats.

But there is also a negative impact to the candidate if he or she changes their class more than twice

The candidate might be left behind in terms of masteries. In short, the candidate will become a Jack of All trades. The system will permanently prevent the candidate to earn a masteries of any of the skills set or class.

So it is advisable that you should atleast just change your class atleast once or twice to avoid triggering the system to prevent you to Master a single class and remain a class changer to become stronger.

I also noticed that there is a place where you can check your current status to monitor you current progress.

So does my ability is meaningless here since the other can see their status as well?

What is special with my ability then?

"Thank you very much for this Hanji! It will really helps me a lot!"

I said in a very thankful manner since he is this kind to me.

"Anyway Hanji, I do still have a single attempt right? You said I can try to land a hit to you for three times right?"

I said while trying to look tough, even though I am still feeling my knee and my hand shaking due to the damage I got earlier.

"Well, I can't do that anymore, you know, you were unconscious for almost 1 hour, and I have something to do as well, my Party from the camp is preparing  as well to open another door for Aria, she will try to finish her 8th door  again today after failing it for atleast 7 times. So we agreed to help her reach its conclusion before leaving her inside to finish it on her own."

"What do you mean by helping her? Are we allowed to enter the door with other people?".

I ask in confusion.

"Ofcourse! What is your allies from the camp for if you cannot help each other?

" We need to help each other if someone from the camp will not be able to finish it themselves, however, the final trial must be finish by the one who is doing an attempt for it to be a valid attempt."

"However only those candidate who reached a higher door will be able to others below them, if you are just only on your 2nd door, then you will not be allow by the tower to enter the 3rd door with the party, you need to finish first your 2nd door."

He explained to me while handsigning again, maybe that was his maniarism, handsigning while explaining things.

" I see! , thank you very much for all the information you shared me as well as for the sword and the booklet, it will really help me lot with my journey."

"You are very much welcome Aziel, as your senpai, it is my duty to look for my junior you know. Anyway, I need to go now, here take this, use that to contact me once you are ready again for the trial I gave you before we enter your first door."

He throw to me a gem like item, as soon as I touch it, it instantly registered into my system.

*You Acquired [Communication Gem]

A communication tool that will let the holder and the owner contact each other.

Linked Person: Hanji Kozuki

Usage Cost: 1 MP per minute.

So this is like a 20th century cellphone, however it is more like a personal device to contact only one person, also it uses a person's own energy to activate it.

"Since I am on my own right now, I need to find a way to get stronger for Hanji to allow me enter my first door, I cannot just sit idly by after what happen earlier. "

I said to myself while looking at the map Hanji gave me.

"So my first destination will be..."
