Sitting on the window pane with watery eyes staring at the orange glitter sky, upset with the world for my existence. I zoned back to the moment I screamed at my mother, I am now regretful more than ever. She took all the privileges I have ever had, for the first time I have felt such depression. I stroked Mrs. Muffin`s fur, my black and white cat with her gorgeous blue eyes, which brought me comfort and amusement. I almost fell out my window when I heard a sudden loud ringing. I had no idea where it was coming from, I searched for merely two minutes before wondering upon it in my old drawer. I was shocked upon finding my 2nd grade phone because I thought I got rid of it years ago. Yet, to my surprise, I didn't. I quickly answered it to find out who was calling.
My ears rang when I heard a loud outburst on the other end of the line, "Oh my gosh, hiii!" I heard someone exclaim. I didn't have to think twice to know who it was.
"Hey Sally," I whispered, looking around to ensure that no one is close by.
"Hey girl, why are you whispering?" Sally asked.
"I'm still grounded Sally, and I am not supposed to be on my phone, but this junk of a phone doesn't even have Playstore." I whispered, while still looking around.
"That is so sad. How about we go see that new movie that came out. It will be a lot of fun!" She screamed in excitement.
"I don't know Sally, remember the last time we tried that." I replied
"Girl, we only got grounded for a week, and besides, it was worth it." Sally said
"Okay fine, what time?" I said with a little bit of excitement
"Meet me by the light post at 8pm." Sally said, then hung up.
I looked around to ensure that no one else was awake. I placed my pillows under my sheet giving it a human form. I took up my purse from my bed and climbed through the window stealthily. Moving along the vacant bushy road, I could see the reflection of the moon in a puddle of water. I had a weird feeling that the shadows of the darkness were watching me. I could hear my heart beating against my chest, I wiped my sweaty palms in my jeans. I heard something slightly moved behind me, without even taking a glance I sped off.
I`ve never felt so delighted to see the old concrete pole that reached up in the sky like a skyscraper. Sally was so distracted by her phone, that she didn't realize I had arrived. I was exhausted because of the journey I had just ran. I made my presence known to her by tapping her on the shoulder, full of fright she screamed as loud as a siren. She exhaled with a sigh of relief when she turned around and realized it was just me.
Walking down the road hand in hand with my best friend, I could see the dim light of the lamp post where we started our journey. Anxiously waiting to see a person or a taxi but none were in sight, only a squirrel in the middle of the road. We walked for about ten minutes before seeing a flashing light moving towards us, I was relieved when I saw that it was a taxi. The car was a white Subaru, with silver rims and a bright yellow sign on the top that says taxi. While it was pulling up to our feet, we could only see a yellow T-shirt and a white hat and it seemed as if the person had no face.
The mysterious person enquired, "Goodnight ladies, where are you heading?" hearing the voice that rolled like thunder we realized it was a man.
Sally excitedly responded, "We're just heading to the movie theatre."
The man had a grin on his face, "You`re in luck, am heading that way,'' we hopped in the car with smiles on our faces knowing we no longer had to walk. The car was going about 60mph and Sally and I were in the back seats texting and corresponding on what we think the movie is going to be like. At times I would see the man`s beady eyes in the mirror staring at us, I was getting terrified and I looked at Sally and she seemed fine and was enjoying the ride. I thought to myself that maybe I was overreacting because it's dark and everything seems creepy to me, so I ignored it. We were driving for about ten minutes and now approaching our destination, It was about three hundred meters (300m) ahead of us. We could glimpse the flashing lights on the building that formed out the words, movie cinema. I shoved my phone in my purse and took out our fare, while handing it to the driver I could see that Sally didn't realize we had arrived at our destination. She was staring at her phone screen and I touched her so she would notice, at that moment I realized we were ten meters pass our destination.
I was confused, I moved to the edge of my seat and exclaimed, "Sir, where are you going I said the cinema!" He seemed as if he didn't care about what I said. I felt myself flying back in the seat and hitting my head on the door, and Sally also.
I heard her shout, "My phone, it fell!" The car moved from 60mph to 180mph and seemed as if the driver dropped a boulder on the gas pedal. Sally was screaming on the top of her lungs and so was I. The man stomped on the brakes and quickly clicked a button to close all the doors. We were again unexpectedly thrown from our seats but now into the rear of the front seats. Our faces were hit so bad that my lip started to bleed and Sally`s nose was draining with blood. I grabbed my rag and wiped away the blood from her nose and tried to stop the bleeding. I didn't realize the man was looking for something.
I realized that the car actually stopped and we could escape, I shouted, "Sally get out!" We tried to pull the doors but they didn't even budge.
"How stupid do you think I am, did you think I would stop the car and unlock the doors?" the man laughed and then his expression changed, he was very serious and I saw him raised his pistol at us, "Don't even try to scream or escape, if you do they`ll find your body with four bullet wounds floating down the river, and if I feel like it I may add some stab wounds!" Sally and I were frozen with terror, I couldn't even move no matter how I tried, I just felt like one move could cause my demise. The man pressed the gas and the car started moving again. I held onto Sally`s hand and hugged her tightly, I didn't want to lose her. We were both terrified and regretted sneaking out. I whispered under my breath to Sally, "It'll be okay."
