The Prophecy

Kassandra's POV

There was no pain when I opened my eyes and looked around the familiar room I had once been in with Aliana.

Aliana.

That was when I felt pain. She was gone. Taken from me. I closed my eyes again in hopes that this was all just a horrible nightmare.

That was shattered when I saw Laas curled in a giant white shaking ball as the mate marks on her fur pulsed.

Looking down at myself I saw that my marks were doing the same thing and there was a dull pain in my chest near my heart.

I placed my hand over the ache as if to try and smother it as tears came.

"It's because we're separated from our mate," Laas said in a broken voice and I walked over to her and placed my hand on her fur in comfort.

Opening my eyes again I felt something shift on my chest and looked down to see Fen and Scar sleeping on my chest.

I looked back up at the ceiling as everything came back to me at once. Aliana, Saline. The destroyed portal. Laas' rage. The Mate mark.

The more I thought about it the more the spot near my heart hurt. Tears streamed from my eyes to the pillow under my head.

I knew Aliana was still alive but that was all I knew. I didn't know where she was or if she was hurt.

But if there was one thing I knew I could be positive in knowing, it was that she would come back to me.3

She had promised.

Shifting on my chest made me look down again and I saw that both Fen and Scar were staring down at me with sad eyes that reflected my own.

Reaching my hands up I rubbed both of their backs as tears fell from their eyes and that made mine fall even faster.

"We're acting as if she's dead," Fen said and we both looked at him.

"Aliana isn't dead, there's no way that she would let that insane woman kill her and she would be disappointed in me if I just let the two of you sit here and mope." He said and wiped his little face on my torn shirt before looking back up with sad but determined eyes.

"We all know she's coming back." He said looking directly at me and I nodded my head and found that even Laas was listening to him with one of her ears raised.

"I for one don't want her to come back and see me like this." He said and stood up and hopped up off my chest and made his way towards the door.

Wrapping my arms around Scar I sat up as I took in his words. He was right, I knew he was right, and sitting here crying wasn't going to help anything.

Placing Scar on the ground I stood up and followed him out of the room and into the front room where Aliana and Thorn had their confrontation to find it filled with people.

All eyes turned to us as we walked into the room and Aliana's grandmother pushed through the crowd and pulled me into a hug.

"She coming back." She whispered in my ear and I nodded my head before she released me.

"Good. Now come, we must prepare." She said and I frowned.

"Prepare for what?" I asked and she gave me a sad smile.

"For war. The Prophecy has already begun."
