Chapter 37: X Marks the Spot

This must be the part of the house Rick did not renovate, I think, as I make my way down a cold and dark winding staircase. I’m not afraid of much, but this is a little creepy. It just keeps going and just when I think I made a terribly wrong decision to come down here, I hear voices. I stop fast before a turn at the end of the stairs.

“I would never betray you like that, Rick! I would never betray my pack. Everything I’ve ever done is to save you from that evil witch!” Vicky whines.

“You will not speak of her that way! She is going to be my wife, Vicky, and that’s something you will have to accept. If you can’t, you will have to leave the pack for good,” Rick replies forcefully.

“I said it before and I will say it again, the pack will never accept her. She’s not a wolf! She’s not worthy of you! You will regret this!” Vicky yells spitefully.

“And you are? You attacked her when her back was turned. I would never be with someone who has no dignity and no honor,” Rick spits out.
