Chapter 41: Lose Control

“How could you keep something like this from me?” I ask her when she releases me.

I stumble backwards and she goes to catch me but I push her away. She gives me an apologetic smile, but it’s not enough.

“Raven, you have to understand, your mother knew what was going to happen. I warned her, but she was stubborn. She thought she could change her fate. She told me if anything were to happen to her that I wasn’t to tell you about your father unless it became absolutely necessary,” she explains.

“Why?” I ask.

“She never wanted you to grow up without a family. She wanted the witches to be that for you and she didn’t want you to be confused or feel like you didn’t belong,” she replies.

“Well then her dying wish didn’t come true! I’ve always felt like an outsider! I feel that way now, with both the witches and the werewolves. I don’t belong in either place because I’m not one or the other. How is that even possible?” I argue.
