Chapter 45: Grievances

The next morning I stare at my puffy eyes in the mirror after a long night of nightmares and little sleep. I look about as good as I feel, tired and irritated. The bags under my eyes are about to dance a jig across my face. So when I hear a knock on the door and Maryann’s cheery voice calling out to me, needless to say I am not in the mood. I throw on Rick’s robe and greet her with somewhat of a scowl on my face.

“Now that’s not the look of someone getting married today! You look tired, dear, did you not sleep well?” she asks in a concerned tone.

“Not really,” I reply.

“We can fix you right up! My good friend Sandra is coming in about an hour with all her magic makeup potions - no pun intended,” she giggles and then adds, “Why don’t you take a nice hot shower while I have someone bring you some breakfast. We have a very busy day ahead and you will need your strength.”
