Chapter 49: Breaking Free

As Moira falls, the rage inside me breaks free. I let go of the barrier and all my inhibitions, but apparently my humanity decided to go along with them. I feel a change in my body, notice a presence that was always just under the surface, and I realize it’s my wolf. She was biding her time, waiting for the right moment to come out.

I feel myself shifting and morphing, nails lengthening to claws, fur starting to grow out of my skin, the shape of my arms and legs changing from a two legged creature to a four.

I howl as my whole viewpoint changes, then lunge for Lavinia. The shocked look on her face tells me she had no idea that my father was a werewolf. I use her surprise to my advantage and claw at her, slicing her face and arms. She panics and tries to cast a spell on me, but it doesn’t work.
