Chapter 50: Pride and Prejudice

“How did you know we needed help?” I ask him as we walk out back.

“I had someone watching over you,” he says. Evanora, that sneaky old woman. I didn’t know she could send messages to my father. We are really going to have to talk about her communication issues.

“Thank you for coming, but why now and not before?” I ask pointedly and he chuckles.

“You’re very much like your mother. So straightforward. And you look like her too, thank god,” he remarks. I raise my eyebrow to let him know I’m still waiting on an answer.

“Your mother and I had a fight before you were born; I asked her to come live with me and my pack and she refused. She didn’t want to feel like an outcast and she wanted to be near her best friend Moira. I couldn’t leave my pack, so she left and didn’t tell me about you until you were about two years old. Then...well you know what happened,” he says.

“But why not bring me to live with you?” I ask.
