Chapter 63: Never Gonna Give You Up

The next morning I wake up a little later so I don’t have to watch Rick ride away. It worked out anyway since I cried myself to sleep last night and I walk towards the breakfast hall to get some coffee with a healthy dose of liquid courage, but I stop short when I hear Rick’s gruff voice.

“That’s very kind of you, Lydia,” he says.

“I want to make sure all of my guests are well taken care of,” she purrs. I nearly throw up in my mouth as I turn the corner and see her stroking Rick’s arm in a flirtatious way.

Does this woman have no shame? She has to be at least ten years older than him. Also, why is he still here? It would have been much easier on both of us if he had left already.

I take a breath, plaster a smile on my face and walk into the room.

“Good morning, everyone,” I say in a cheery voice.
