Lida and the Confrontation

"So you're saying that I was outside last night?"

"Yes, you were in a really popular inn last night."

Hmm... they seem to be targeting inn's and brothels just like what she said before. It's quite obvious that they are just there to ruin my reputation, I mean of all the places they could have went to, they chose places that tend to have many people.

"So that person wasn't you prince?"

"Me? No, I am still stuck in house arrest, I can't just go in and out of the castle."

Though being stuck in house arrest made it hard to get rid of the rumor, it still fun just to read in the library with no people.

"House arrest?"

"Yeah, I got stuck in house arrest since the rumor popped up, wait a minute... You didn't know?"

"Yes, I never really heard anything about you being stuck in house arrest."

So not only is the information cut out from the nobles but also to the people in the castle, is that why the people in the castle believed the rumors, because they didn't know about me being stuck in house arrest? Don't they see me all the time in the castle?

Why didn't they get suspicious...

Oh right! I had been sitting inside the library this whole time, So they didn't have anything to believe me because they couldn't see me inside the castle, now i get it.

"But I didn't see you in the castle at all."

I was just thinking of that.

"I was inside the library this whole time, so there was little to no time I got out..."

After the maid heard that her head dropped and she was looking down with a dark atmosphere, her head was swaying left to right as if it is a seesaw. Is she that depressed because she didn't believe me?

Then all of a sudden the maid grabbed her hair and shakes it ruining the already messy hair to something even messier.

"What's wrong?"

"Why didn't you tell me..."

"Tell you what...?"

"That there was a library!!!"

The maid yelled at my face, the maids eye glowed like stars brimming with excitement, her heart was pounding really hard and she couldn't maintain the gloomy look anymore. She looked like a cat who just discovered a new toy.

Still if i were a tyrant i could have executed you right now.

Ahem...

"Ah... I'm really sorry prince!"

The maid bowed asking for forgiveness, I could hear her thoughts leaking out of her mouth as she murmurs in regret.

"... He's gonna kill me... he's so gonna kill me... what should I do... should I run right now?..."

"I'm not gonna kill you so don't worry, you were just excited."

Well I did think about it.

"Really...?"

"yeah."

"Phew~ I really thought you were gonna kill me."

"What made you think so?"

"Well... this may seem rude but..."

"Continue."

"You had a really scary look at your face."

huh?

"Your face was a face of someone who would plan out an entire torture method."

Really? I just thought of executing you for a little bit.

"Ah! that's the face again."

It's just a small thought but it somehow showed in my face, I should learn how to suppress my facial expressions.

Since she was excited hearing the word library, maybe I could tell her where it is.

"Anyways... do you want to go to the library? I could show you the way."

"Really!!! Thank you very much!"

I told her where to go and which part of the castle it belongs too.

After hearing the direction of the library, she bowed once again and sprinted really fast.

Oh right! I forgot to ask for her name.

"Hey! What was your name again!" I yelled with the top of my lungs.

After she heard my loud voice she stopped and turned around with a smile on her face, her gloomy look was nowhere to be seen, all that's left was the joy of a cute girl.

"Just call me Lida!" She yelled back.

She must really like to read, even her personality shifted from being gloomy to a happy cute girl.

Now that I think about it... She looked pretty cute.

.

"I'm sorry I don't know anything about that."

Somewhere around the corridor, a girl in her late 40's answered, even though she is old her looks was nowhere near that age at all. Her face felt like it belonged to someone who is still a teenager, and her body proportions hasn't aged whatsoever.

Her crimson red eyes was glaring at me, the glare was strong enough to scare me from moving. I have to ask if I want answers, so I have to move!

"But you're the only one that has the authority to cancel any circulation of letters no?"

I asked with all my strength, even though I know that she could do no harm to me, her outward appearance gives me shivers.

"You overestimate my authority as the head maid prince William, there are a lot more people who has more authority than I am; like for example, the king's butler, or the king himself how about you ask them?"

Ughh...

What she is saying right now is completely right, the butler was supposed to be my first suspect but I simply shrugged it off because the king himself trust him.

But the thought that my father was the one who ordered for the letters to stop is something I never thought so myself.

"Everybody can suspect a person without proper evidence prince, please do not let yourself down. Though I can be a little surprised on how little minded the prince is."

What did you just say?

Me... little minded? I'm trying my best here to solve this predicament that I am currently in and you...! You are telling me I am little minded.

"You...!"

"The angrier you get the more you lose touch of your surroundings prince William, please simply look around."

I looked around and saw the servants of the castle whispering to each other, knowing about my situation I know deeply in my heart what they are talking about.

But why are they here though, this area is isolated to places that are supposed to be crowded...

"I call all the servants near my room every month to do some sort of roll call of their jobs, you're timing prince simply collided with their appearance."

After hearing this I turned around and tried to save myself.

"About this..."

The servants backed off without a second thought, countless murmurs can be heard.

"I think you should go away now prince, if you don't want any troubles."

"You!!!"

I turned around dashed out of there.

"I'll remember this." I said as I looked back.
