The sight of William vanishes from my sight as he turned around in the corner.
William is maybe a prince but he has little to no restrain with his emotions and thoughts, which makes him easy to read and understand.
"Rosalina are you okay?" One of the maid asked.
Just a moment before now, William has just created a scene with him showing his anger at me, and at a perfect coincidence the maids appeared, or should I say at a calculated timing.
"Yeah I am okay." I replied to the maid.
I had been following William since he had got out of his room, and with the information he received from the duke of Reinhart he is absolutely going to confront me about it.
So I devised a plan.
Not long ago I heard from a group of maids about how a maid revealed something to William, knowing this I set up this maid to confront William on his way to my room.
Her Hobby of reading perfectly collided with William's personality of learning the truth, so there's no way they would simply past by each other.
"To think that the prince would be that angry at you. He really is a tyrant." Another maid said.
With the little time I had I ordered a nearby servant to order the maids for an early roll call, and with that, William was seen red handed by almost all of the maids in the castle.
'A public execution is way better than an assassination' Was the words I remembered.
Though I don't really know about the letters though, there surely hasn't been any influx of letters meant for William.
"Come on don't be like that, Aisha still follows him you know?" I replied to the maid.
"Aisha could be forced to follow him...! Maybe she is also forced to do bad things." A maid said
"That's right! we need to..." A maid followed up.
Right after the other the maids slowly expressed their opinions on each other, a massive discussion spiraled from it.
This may or may not spark some more rumors to appear, but one thing is for sure... William's reputation with the servant's of the castle is completely gone.
It was slowly vanishing away thanks to Aisha's help, but. With what happened just now even Aisha can't do anything.
"Come on now everyone, it's time for roll call."
Doing something like ruining another persons reputation isn't really something that I personally do. But this responsibility can only be done by me and no one else.
I looked at the sky from my window.
"Haaaaa~" I sighed
"Ariallette... is there really nothing else that can be done?"
.
A week has passed since my confrontation with Rosaline
Ever since then my reputation with the maids of the castle became saltier than ever, they won't follow my commands nor lay help when i'm in trouble.
Not only that but I also haven't manage to figure out the culprit behind the disappearance of the letters.
"Sigh~" I lay my head down to the desk as I sighed.
"I wish I could just stay here for the rest of my life and live like a hobbit." I grumbled as I lazed around the massive table.
Where I am right now is the only place where gossip doesn't get into, a place of silence and knowledge, the library of the palace.
I stayed in this place for a massive amount of time just like before, luckily this time Aisha is outside for an errand, she also wouldn't know about this because of my the salty relationship I have with the rest of the maids.
However this time, is different than before... This time I am not alone.
Right at the other side of the table is a girl who is completely focused in a book, her once gloomy atmosphere was now gone, her face showed joy and seriousness, it is as if that she is inside the book herself, her name is Lida.
Even though we only meet just a while ago we had already became good acquaintances, or you can just call it friends... Reading friends to be exact.
I was kinda surprised on the first time I met her inside the library, apparently after finding out about the library she stayed here overnight and forgot about her duties. She almost got fired because of it, but thankfully I saved her right before the final decision was ordered. Even though there are rumors about me floating around, my power as a prince isn't fully gone.
I also appointed her as the personal keeper of the library making her the librarian, there was a lot of maids telling her to not accept, but she couldn't refuse because I saved her from being jobless... That was what it is on paper, in truth she didn't refuse because she could read all the books she want as the librarian, her smile was also not hidden even the maids saw it.
I put the backside of my hands on my chin and stared at her with curiosity.
To think that a girl who was once all gloomy and depressed became such a joyful girl just because she got the choice to read books was something I couldn't fathom.
But her reading all happily, and her emotions was as clear as a sunny sky fits her more. In fact, she is cuter.
"Is something wrong prince?" she said as she closed the book she was just reading.
"Nothing much, are you done reading?"
"Ah yes I am finished, though I wish the prince would stop staring at me so much." She pointed out.
"Why? do you dislike it?" I asked while grinning.
"No no no it's not like that!" She said as her hand was waving all over the place.
"Its just that you were staring at me so curiously that it made me lose focus." She said as she held her two index fingers together while her mouth was that in a form of a ducks beak.
Seeing her actions all clumsy like this is pretty cute.
If only I can start to clear this rumor that is going around, I could be joyful like her too. But in order to do that I have to find those missing letters.
"Prince is something bothering you?" Lida asked.
Oh right I forgot about me being soooo readable.
"You could tell me you know? I may be clumsy but I could probably help you." She said.
"I don't know if I could bother you with something like this."
"It is alright prince, you personally saved me from being jobless before, so even if it is something big I'll do my best."
"Lida..." Even though you were so gloomy before, now you are even willing to help me.
"Okay I'll tell you."
I proceeded to tell her about the letters problem that I had, even though we're already good friends I still can't tell her about my suspicions about Rosaline though, I mean she could be a spy.
"So you're telling me that you heard from a friend of yours who told you about important letters that was supposed to be delivered was gone?" She said with her hands on her chin as if she is thinking really hard.
"Yes."
"I know this may seem rude to you prince, but what if those people who were supposed to write important letters to you didn't actually write them?"
???
"I mean if those letters are important they could have just kept it on themselves and not send it to you, especially with the rumors going around this days."
I mean those letters should contain about confirmation about those rumors.
"If you want you could check if there really was letters sent for you."
"Eh, How?"
"Could it be... You didn't know about the letter house prince?"
The letter house? Was there an establishment that was created called like that, if there was I should've know about it no?
"It was 5 years ago when it was issued by the king himself."
5 years ago? I was in the academy back at that time, even though I was in the academy I should've heard about it.
"Apparently it helps stop spies from sending letters outside the country. It was a really big deal that time how come the prince didn't know it, were you holing yourself on the library all the time?"
"That's something like you would do, and no I wasn't that much of a book reader before."
"Then how come you didn't know about it?"
Hmmm... Ah! that's right! I was so focused following my dads footstep that I purposely cut contact of anything outside the academy.
"Seems like the prince finally found out the reason, you don't have to tell me about it anymore." Lida blurted out
"Even though the letter house seems like a good place, I still can't get out of the castle i'm still stuck in house arrest after all."
"Now that I think about it..." Lida said while her hand was in her chin.
"Think about what?"
"How come you didn't sneak out?" Lida asked.
"Sneak out?"
