Chapter 035

After that, Arthur also did a quick healing on Scyther and called him back to his pokeball to rest.

With that done, he finally looked back at the tree that Scyther was leaning on earlier.

According to the map that the Samurai had given him, the treasure was buried under the tree. Arthur needed to dig up the soil to find out what sort of treasure was buried here.

As Charmander was still resting and none of his other Pokemon were helpful in digging soil, he decided to do it himself.

He picked out a long branch that looked sturdy and faced the soil that was under the tree. Then, he began to dig up.

Fortunately, the soil here was a little soft. It was a hard task to insert the branch into the soil, but he still managed somehow and the digging finally began.

It was a tiring job to dig, especially with a branch and his clothes were getting dirty by the soil and the dirt, but Arthur kept doing it. Still, even after digging 3 ft deep, there was nothing to be found.

'Is the treasure map fake?'

He wondered as he wiped off sweat from his forehead, but in the end, he decided to keep digging.

His gut feeling was telling that there was definitely something buried here and it proved to be right.

After 10 more minutes of digging, he suddenly hit something hard. Arthur threw the branch away and tried to use his hands to take out the object that was buried under the ground.

When the object was finally pulled out, he noticed that it was a black coloured box.

It was an old and worn-out box which was covered with dirt. It looked like the black box had been buried for at least some years.

Arthur wondered who had buried this box here and later made a treasure map to find it, but rather than that, he was more interested in what was inside the box.

"I hope there's something good in the box."

He muttered and as he looked at the lock that was in the front.

At this point, Charmander was also looking curiously at the box, wondering what was inside it.

"Charmander, break this lock." Arthur said to Charmander and he nodded his head.

Standing in front of the box, Charmander's claws flashed and with just one attack, the lock was destroyed.

With expectations in his eyes, Arthur slowly opened the black box and his eyes went round as he saw a round disc sitting in the middle of the box.

It was a yellowish brown coloured disc that looked exactly like a computer CD. It was shining under the rays of sun and despite being buried for so long, it looked new.

"I can't believe it… It's a TM!!"

Arthur exclaimed, picking up the disc from the box.

Just like he said, the disc in his hands was a Technical machine or a TM. It was a famous item from the Pokemon games which helps a Pokemon learn a specific move that's installed inside the TM.

It was an item originally only available in the games, but it also exists in this world and just like in the games, it was a really rare and expensive item in the world.

Only large corporations like Silph co and Devon corporation knew how to make TMs and even they are not able to mass produce this technology.

Because of this, every single TM is valuable and Arthur felt lucky that he had gotten his hands on one.

He even felt bad for Samurai who would surely curse his bad luck if he knew that he had lost out on a valuable TM whose value was well in the thousands.

'It's probably a ground type TM.'

Arthur thought as he looked at the colour of the disc.

There was no way for him to know which move was inside the TM. He can only find out about that in a Pokemon center and the next one was obviously in Pewter city.

But he was at least sure that the TM was a ground type move and the base price of such a TM was at least 3000 poke dollars.

Arthur felt quite happy thinking about it as he would finally be able to get his hands on some money.

After that, he carefully put out the TM in his bag and decided that it was finally the time to get out of Viridian forest. It would take 3 days for him to get out of the forest and reach Pewter city.

'In Pewter city, my first gym battle will start.'

Arthur thought as he started to move towards the main path that trainers take to go to Pewter city.

On his way, he gave rest to Charmander and decided to use Scyther to protect him from the attacks of the wild Pokemon.

Strangely, no Pokemon came out to attack him after seeing Scyther. Arthur guessed that it was because Scyther was known as the king of Kanto bugs and the Pokemon living in Viridian forest were well aware of his strength.

Even Beedrills and Pinsirs run away after stopping a Scyther.

Due to this, his whole journey was rather smooth. In the evenings, he would stop and make dinner for his Pokemon and the next morning, he would set up again.

After moving to the main path, Arthur met other trainers and even had a few battles using Scyther. As the other trainers were mostly using bug and grass Pokemon, it was an easy victory for him.

Like that, he exited the Viridian forest while feeling happy about the accomplishments he achieved here.

Not only did he manage to catch Murkrow and Scyther, he even managed to get his hands on a TM.

Arthur was quite happy about all this and with a feeling of satisfaction in his heart, he reached Pewter city where he would finally meet and battle one of the core characters of the anime — Brock!
