Chapter 054

Golbat glared at Murkrow with a gaze full of enmity, like he was looking down on him.

His face was full of overconfidence and he didn't think Murkrow would be able to compete against him.

His confidence came from the fact that he had become the boss of the largest group of Zubats on Mount moon, starting from the bottom as a Zubat himself.

He had gone against many Pokemon and after countless battles, he had finally managed to make a name for himself as one of the strongest in the mountains.

Moreover, he was fighting in his home, in front of the eyes of all his subordinates. With the Zubats cheering him up, his motivation was sky high.

The thought that Murkrow can go toe to toe with him never even brushed his mind.

But that thought quickly changed when the battle started.

"Golbattt!!!"

Huge stings filled with poison pierced through the air and hit the ground, barely missing the target by a hair's breadth.

It was already 10 minutes since the battle started and Golbat had already realised by now that Murkrow was really not an easy opponent like he was thinking before.

Not one of his attacks had hit him so far and he was dodging them everytime just barely, like it was not due to skill, but luck.

This confused Golbat who had never fought an opponent that was faster than him. Rock Pokemon are mostly slow and he was the fastest among the bats.

For him, Murkrow was a weird opponent.

What was more weird was the trainer commanding him.

Golbat had always looked down on Pokemon who would be captured by humans, thinking that they are just becoming weaker by giving someone else the right to command them.

But the trainer commanding Murkrow was really eerie to him.

He would give commands to Murkrow the moment he tried to make a move. It was like the trainer was reading his every moment and acting on it.

Golbat had never faced such an opponent before and he became more and more careful as the battle progressed.

The overconfidence he had displayed before was nowhere to be seen and he was even regretting agreeing to this battle.

If one thinks of a Pokemon battle as a chess game, then until now, Arthur had done everything right — He assumed, read and challenged Golbat's strategies.

But like what Arthur had thought before, battles with wild Pokemon aren't hard because the strategies used by wild Pokemon are often strength based or are fairly simple.

It was easy for Arthur to counter them.

"Golbat."

Golbat soon broke out in cold sweat as another one of his attacks failed to connect. At this point, he had already been thrown into panic and knew that he needed to change strategies or he wouldn't last longer against Murkrow.

'It's time to stop dodging.'

On the other hand, Arthur finally decided to go on the offensive.

His plan to throw Golbat into a state of panic was successful and he just needed to carry out the rest of the battle now.

"Murkrow, use wing attack."

Murkrow's wings suddenly shined hearing the command and he rushed towards Golbat, who flapped his wings and tried to get away.

They both struggled in the air for a while, with Murkrow chasing after Golbat in the huge cave surrounded by Zubats.

Halfway through the chase, Golbat's speed suddenly increased and Arthur was able to see him making a blue trace in his trail. Arthur smirked seeing this.

'Agility...'

Agility was increasing Golbat's speed and making it harder for Murkrow to touch him. The distance between them soon increased to more than just a little and Golbat suddenly went into a counterattack.

He saw it as a chance to defeat Murkrow who had baffled him earlier.

Agility was the move that had given him an edge in earlier battles. Golbat would often use it mid battle to increase his speed and counter attack.

This tactic had been successful till now and he had no doubt that it would work this time too.

"Golbat!"

Golbat's wings glowed light blue and he crossed them in front of his body. When he opened his wings in an instant, blue saw-like discs that were blades made from air sliced the air and moved towards Murkrow.

Swishhhh!

The blades of air swished past the air and went directly through Murkrow's body. This surprised Golbat, but he soon understood what was going on.

"Now, use punishment!"

But before he could move away, he felt a strong blow on his back and was directly slammed on the ground.

"Murkrow!"

Murkrow cried out in triumph with his wings leaving a light purple glow.

"Murkrow, don't feel good just yet. The battle ain't over yet."

The strategy to use double team as a disguise has worked, but the battle was far from being over.

Arthur reminded Murkrow of that as the dust began to settle on the ground.

"Golbattt!"

Somehow, Golbat got up and saw the blood that was coming out from his wings. He felt burning pain all over his body, but that pain soon overlapped with anger and fury.

"Batt!"

"Battttt!!"

"Zubattttt!!!"

The Zubats who were watching the battle cried out with various emotions as they saw their boss getting thrown on the ground. It was the first time they were seeing this and it made them feel more fear towards Arthur and Murkrow.

After completely getting up, Golbat straight up rushed towards Murkrow in a fury of rage.

"Murkrow, don't let it get close to you."

Boom!

A shockwave rang out through the air.

Both the flying types started a chase in the air as they wrestled in between trying to get away.

Golbat kept using agility and Murkrow had to work hard to keep a little distance between them. They moved at an astonishing face that was hard for Arthur's eyes to keep up with.

'The battle is at its end.'

Arthur focused his eyes on the battle as he issued out a command.
