It's been two weeks since the school got attacked during the sports event and Juleka has basically been avoiding Jake more and more, something he was sure off when he saw the girl sitting in another park to draw instead of the usual place.
"Hey guys, did you notice Juleka seems kinda weird lately, especially around Jake?" Marinette asks her other female friends, the group peering in the classroom where Jake is literally staring a hole in the back of Juleka's head with a sad expression, while the girl is acting like he doesn't exist.
"Yeah, something is up. We should do something." Rose says chipperly.
"But what?" Alya asks.
"Maybe set them up on a date?" Kim suggests, revealing his presence to the girls, standing behind them with Adrien and Nino.
"How would that work? They aren't even on speaking terms." Alix asks with a raised eyebrow.
"I actually have an idea." Adrien says after a moment of silence.
"Let's hear it then Adrien." Alya replies.
After school Nino is dragging Jake with him on a trip to the Eiffel tower, the girls doing the same with Juleka.
"Dude. I'm telling you. You aren't a real Parisian until you were on the Eiffel tower with your friends." Nino says, the two teens and a couple other people taking an elevator to the middle platform.
"Oh Nino. Hi, weird coincidence. Can we talk to you for a second? Why don't you two already go ahead?" Marinette says, the group pushing Jake and Juleka into an elevator to the highest platform.
"Well this isn't set up." Jake chuckles, shaking his head.
"Uncool." Juleka agrees in a mumble.
"So, why have you been avoiding me?" Jake asks getting right to the point.
"I haven't..." she mumbles.
"You have. I just want to know what I did to make you avoid me like the pest? Is it something I did at the sports festival?" He asks, receiving a mute nod in reply.
"Is it about that hug?" Jake asks.
"It doesn't matter, just leave me alone. We don't even know each other and you just focus on me the whole time even though you know I get embarrassed." Juleka tells him and when they get to the top floor of the construct they go to opposite ends awkwardly, a black butterfly closing in on a sad Jake, landing on his skateboard.
"Doomboard. My name is Hawkmoth. I give you the power to make everyone respect you. In return you'll give me cat noirs and ladybugs miraculous." Hawkmoth relays him telepathically.
"We'll see." Jake replies, being akumatized.
"Jake no." Juleka says concerned, trying to stop it, with the teen being covered in black bubbles, having his skateboard fused with his body and a green training suit on with flames on its legs.
"Jake? I'm sorry." Juleka asks a bit fearful.
"Too little too late I'm afraid." Jake replies, his wheels turning at incredible speeds, catching fire.
"Don't do this. It's not you." Juleka says quietly.
"I haven't done anything yet, what's the fuzz?" He asks.
"I don't want you to get hurt or hurt someone else." Juleka replies desperate.
"As if you could stop me." He huffs, jumping onto the Eiffel tower's railing and is about to ride down the construct when he feels another weight on his board behind him, which is Juleka with her eyes closed fearfully.
"Your time has come akuma!" Ladybug then shouts, tossing her jojo at Jake, who dodges, but Juleka gets hit off his skateboard.
"You'll pay for that. No one hurts my friends." Jake growls and flies towards the hero team.
"Jake, no!" Juleka says, making him turn towards her, seeing her with tears flowing down her cheeks and before he can reach the hero team his akumatization is weakening, with him starting to revert back, Longg giving him the willpower to do so, since he's sharing his body with the kwami.
"Jules." He groans, holding his head while plummeting to the ground.
"Gotcha." Cat noir says, fishing him out of the air and sets him down in front of a worried Juleka.
"Oh man, I really embarrassed myself this time, didn't I?" He asks, the akumatization disappearing.
"No. You did great." Juleka says, hugging the teen while shaking until he pulls her in close, making her feel safe while his akumazization is disappearing.
"Too tight." She groans out weakly and he eases his grip on her while the black butterfly leaves his skateboard and gets de-evillized by Ladybug.
"Hey, you're the first one to be able to resist Hawkmoth on his own dude. Way cool." Cat noir praises Jake.
"I had help." Jake says, not even looking at the heroes, completely engrossed in hugging Juleka.
"Come on kitten our job is done." Lady bug says with a grin and they leave.
"I'm sorry." Juleka mumbles.
"You don't have to be sorry. I guess I just don't understand why you don't want to be friends anymore." Jake says, releasing her from his embrace.
"It's not that. I just get nervous and embarrassed when others are watching." She says, a red hue on her cheeks.
"Watching what?" He asks genuinely confused.
Juleka only places a hand on his, squeezing it in a death grip, feeling people's stares due to the akumatization just now.
"Let's get out of here." He tells her, standing up and offering to help Juleka up as well.
The two then make their way down the Eiffel tower and he walks her home to her houseboat.
"Do you want to hang out for a while?" Juleka asks shyly, Jake barely able to understand her rushed and mumbled words.
"I'd love to, but my grandpa needs my help. He isn't the youngest anymore." Jake says and kisses the back of her hand, asking "Some other time?" with Juleka only nodding while trying to hide her face even more than her blue colored bang already does.
"See you tomorrow then Jules, oh sorry Juleka." He says, heading off. Shortly after getting on his skateboard he gets a text from the goth looking girl and reads, 'you can call me Jules when it's just us.'
While she's watching Jake leave she looks at her second text, stating that she knows his secret, but decides against sending it and quickly deletes it.
"Jake. I was wondering where you were." Master Fu greets his grandson once he arrives in the shop.
"I was actually akumatized for a second there today." Jake confesses.
"You were? Why?" The man asks, pulling out a chair for Jake to take a seat on.
"It's just that the last few weeks it felt like I don't belong here. Juleka didn't talk to me. I don't really have any other friends. I mean Nino is cool, but it's not like how it was with Trixie and Spud." That you have me checking on the supernatural here isn't making things much easier either, but I understand that someone needs to do it." Jake says, missing his old life, only his job being somewhat the same. The supernatural being activity being rather low in Paris aside from Kwamis and akumatized people.
"How was your trip to the sirens? Did the potion work?" Master Fu asks.
"Yeah, it works. And they are doing well." Jake says, retreating to his room with a frown.
