Chapter 4 : zhou ha
After cleaning the yard , I went to clean the chicken coop . This job is for them and the second house to do .
The other two families are the first uncle zhou da , his wife lui zan and her 3 children ;
Zhou Qi the eldest 17 years old next is zhou ha the same as me and the last one zhou si who is 8 years old .
Then comes the second uncle zhou er and his wife chi lan who have 4 children, 3 boys and one girl ;
14 year old boy zhou wan, 12 year old boy zhou shi and 9 year old zhou cai and 6 year old zhou Chen .
These two families are at each other's throats all the time but when it comes to her and her second uncle familie they are united .
While huang Lin was scooping the chicken dung and thinking about her new relatives .
Zhou ha who was strolling around and gossiping with the bridge girls all day came in .
Upon seeing, huang Lin cleaning the smelly chicken coop , she smiled evilly and made her way to her .
"my , my huang Lin are you still not done cleaning the chicken coop till now ? Milk will scold you if she knew " said zhou ha smiling at huang Lin who looked at her and smiled a little saying " ah cousin how can you say that , I'm working everyday in the house and the farm but ah how can you understand when you do nothing all day long but eat and sleep "
As huang Lin finished speaking she saw zhou ha face twitching a little before reverting back to normal. Making Lin Lin amazed at her cousin acting skills .
This girl will make it big if she keeps this up lol
"Haha of course I don't need to do much since I'm not like you who is a landlord's daughter "
Ouch , she had to use that card huh
"Landlord? Oh cousin did you forget that I'm a farmer's daughter? And that's why the bridge leader himself who treats us like other farmer's ? Must be Because you are gossiping too much that you started forgetting things ,then again I have to get to work "
Finishing her words , Lin lin turned around to finish her work . Leaving behind a pissed off zhou ha who stomped her feet and left .
Who's gossiping too much you whore ? See if I don't make you regret ever coming here , you just wait .

At lunch
The whole family returned to the house to eat since they didn't eat breakfast.
The food was so little , that Lin Lin was shocked . She knew that the food is not much but not to this extent. No wonder the original ate mud days ago .
The table where the men sat to eat was a bit better then the women and children table.
There was a pot of rice prodige or something which is actually water and a very few rice seeds , a bunch of coarse floor pancakes and steamed wild veggies that the children had dug. Truly miserable.
« Women , do you call this lunch ? Where the hell is the rice ? Don't we have a Jin or so ? »
Yelled her grandpa , who despite the old age is still as vigorous as ever.
Despite being yelled at her milk didn't shy away and started yelling « what rice and what food ? What do you know you old men ? Do you think we can just blame me for this like that ? Don't you know how much I try to keep you all feed ? »and then started wailing causing everyone to loose appétit.
« Mother don't cry , we all know how much you sacrificed for us . Now let's eat » interepted her 1 st uncle before grandpa responds.
Just like that ended the argument and everyone started picking the food .
After they finished the lunch , Lin Lin and Jin wei started washing the dishes in the backyard.
« Say Lin Lin do you know why we are in this state unable to eat a whole meal in days ? »
« Isn't because food is not enough for us till we get our share after the harvest ? »
Hearing this Jin wei started laughing at her naive niece .
« Silly girl , even if that's true it won't reach the point of not eating for days or having one meal each day . The old lady , sold what remained of what we have in the county 2 weeks ago when she went to sell the eggs . After that she hided this from everyone and started limiting our consummation like this »
Shocked Lin Lin couldn't understand why the old lady would let them suffer and starve like this just for few yuans .
Seeing her shock and confusion , Jin wei knew that Lin Lin didn't understand why the old woman did what she did .
« don't you know that she is dead set to marry your uncle at the beginning of the new year ? That's why she is trying to gather money for the matchmaker and the dowry »
Hearing this , red flags started in Lin Lin's brain . This is not good at all .
« But if he gets married where will he live ?»
Asked Lin Lin a question that she knows the answer to .
« Well it's .. »what Jin wei didn't say , Lin Lin knew well in her heart .
She thought that she still has time but I guess she really needs to fasten her pace . Because that old hag would do everything to get rid of them and have the room . So she better leave before that happens.
