Chapter 5 : the fourth uncle
Lin Lin's fourth uncle is a well known lazy man who only knows how to make troubles all year long .
His name is zhou bai who is 24 years old this year and still isn't married yet .
At this age he is considered an old bachelor.
Although , the old lady blames them for blocking her son from marring a daughter in law home , the real reason is that her son wants to play around before marrying a beautiful wife. Which is hard not only does he have a nasty reputation, they are too poor to afford the dowry of the so called beautiful wife .
At noon , when everyone is resting a bit before going back to the field , zhou bai came back home after fooling around the whole day .
« Maa, where is the lunch ? I'm starving! »
Hearing her favorite son's shout , peng shi , hurriedly started boiling her son an egg and set down the table and few dishes for him to eat .
In this whole house , only zhou bai gets this treatment and to eat an egg everyday.
The others could only gulp at the sight of the boiled egg .
But not that Lin Lin cares since she has a whole supermarket to herself .
So once she finished washing the dishes , she closed the door of their room and gave the two siblings each a white floor steamed bun filled with cabbage and nuts for them to eat .
And then took her time thinking of a way to make money and move out of here .
She can't simply ask to separate , her grandpa won't agree no matter what .
And even if she moved out , she needs money .
Suddenly, Lin Lin remembered her supermarket. How could she forget . Now is the right time to do business in the black market like all those novels Female leads do .
She also needs to take advantage of those years to come especially the 3 years famine in 1958 .
But she still has time , now all she needs is to separate from this family .
Back in the first uncle room , zhou ha and her mother are discussing about Lin Lin and the second house .
« Mother when can I get rid of those good for nothing waste ? »
Looking at her impatient daughter, lui zan couldn't help but shake her head .
« Zhou ha , I told you we can't harm them or you grandpa will make us suffer »
« But mother , that whore is gonna marry brother zhang if I don't get rid of her »

In the third uncle 's room , the door was closed and the family of foor was gathered on the kang eating the two potatoes in relish not knowing what the others are plotting to destroy their happy little family .
« Say Jin wei where did you get these potatoes ? » asked zhou san his wife causing his two daughters to look at their mother who smiled brightly at them .
« Lin Lin gave them to me , the poor girl thought about zhou zhi and zhou zi and kept the a share of the potatoes »
Hearing Jin wei mention his late sister daughter zhou er can't help but sigh.
Those children are not much better than them but they still think of them and never fail to give back .
« If you you two see your cousin thank her in private »
the two girls nodded their heads at their father causing him to smile at their cuteness. Who wants a boy when he has two Cotten padded jacket that will keep him warm .
Alas , it's only him who thinks this way . His mother never fails to shame his wife and daughters for it .
Thinking of his mother he can't help but sigh .
Hopefully one day she will think of him as her son too and not give him the cold shoulder , ignoring him and his family.

The next morning
The whole family got up early and headed to the field. Although, the harvest is two weeks away , the land needs to be tended to all the time .
If someone doesn't work , the whole family starves to death the following year .
Of course that doesn't matter to the fourth uncle or zhou ha who both keep on acting as if they are second rich generation, flaunting about being peasants but not doing any farm work .
Other than the men , the third family and Lin Lin who helps in the land . Yiyi and little ya are collecting pigs weed which can be exchanged for work points .
The other kids are either in school , fooling around or forced to work.
After three hours of back braking work , Lin Lin went to rest under the tree a bit far from their land .
Not long after , a long shadow blocked the sun from her . Looking at the intruder , Lin Lin small heart couldn't help but skip a bit .
The man was 17 or 18 years old with wheat colored skin , deep dark black eyes , defined eyebrows and a killer jawline .
