-•Anna's P.O.V•-
"Those things...Took them." "What?" My eyes widen and my heart skips a beat, making me fall down to my knees. "What...Do you mean by...Things?" "The demons..." "No..." I stand up slowly, clenching my fists. "I'm going to save them..!" "Anna, don't, there's too many of them."
James warned, his breathing getting hoarse. "What do you mean by many?" "All...Of them..." James' eyes slowly shuts and I kneel back down. "James?" Jessica touches James' forehead, immediately standing up once touching it. "His head is heating up. I'm gonna go get some ice. Stay with him." Jessica sprints out the room, and to the direction of the cafeteria.
After a while of being alone in the classroom with James, Veronica comes in. "Hey." "Hi, Veronica, right?" "Yeah, and you're Anna, the popular girl, right?" "I mean, if you put it like that, then yes, I am Anna." "How are you taking in all of this?"
Veronica asked as she sat down next to me. "I'm an emotional wreck right now." "Yeah,I'm pretty sure all of us are." We both laugh softly. "You know, we only got to see these type of things in movies and series. I wouldn't have thought about it ever happening in real life." "Yeah, but all we can do for now is kill all the remaining demons."
"There are a lot more out there. The sun is already going down. We wont be able to kill them in time." "Let's just hope for the best." Veronica nods and we keep talking. A few minutes pass by and as we're about to stand up, we hear the door open, and when we looked at who it could probably be, we see Sam's head peaking through the door.
"Sam, you have to stop doing that." "Sorry. What were guys talking about?" "JUst normal stuff." "Like?" Sam sat down beside me. "You know, girl stuff, family, friends, life, that type of things." "Well, sorry to break the atmosphere but I actually need one of you to go with me."
"Go with you? Where?" "To the first building." "I'll go. James will be safer with Anna." Veronica said as she stood up, but I pulled her back down. "No, its okay, ill go. You have to wait for Jessica." Okay, but I don't really think James is in the right state to move around." Veronica suggested.
"You're right. Stay here with James, and wait for Jessica to show up. Once James is okay to move again, you should immediately come to the first building. You wont be safe here with nobody around." "Okay, be safe you guys." Veronica walked us to the door, and we went on our way.
"Okay, so why did you want one of us to come with you?" "I actually want to tell you something else first..." "Okay? Then spit it out already, I can't handle suspense." Sam pauses, takes a deep breath, and turns to me. "I think i know where TIa is." "What?!"
"Don't be loud..!" Sam said as he covered my mouth. "OKay, okay, ill stop. Let me go." Sam lets me go and i take a deep breath. "Jeez, you have really big hands." I said as i exhaled. "Sorry, those things could hear you, it's not safe." "You're right. Sorry." "It's fine." "Okay, so about Tia. You said you know where she is, right?"
"I said I think i know, I'm not that certain." "Okay, where is she them?" "I think I saw her at the school garden." "What? Why didn't you approach her then?" "I don't know, something weird was going on..." "What do you mean by, weird?" "She was with The Riddler." "She was with the what?" I stop, confused about what i just heard.
"The Riddler? What is she doing with one of the demon?" "I don't know…Where ever she's at I hope she's safe." "Me too…Anyway, you didn't answer my question yet. Why did you want one of us to come with you?" "I needed a hand in doing something." "Uhm, okay, but you could've asked someone else though." "True, but I actually wanted it to be you."
"Why?" "I don't know, I just, feel safer with you." "Excuse me, what?" I stop, raising my eyebrows at Sam. "I know, it's weird, you don't have to give me those eyes." "Sure, but I'm confused. Why me? I'm the literal opposite of someone that can make people feel safe."
Sam sighs, looks away, then grabs my hand. "What the—" I tried to break free from his grip, but he was too strong. Giving up, I let him grab me. As we continue walking towards the first building, we see the door and walk through it. "Let me go!" I shrug my hand away, and look at Sam, who is now looking at the ground.
"Why'd you do that?" "I…I'm sorry." Sam puts his hands into his jacket's pockets. "That doesn't answer my question. Look at me, Sam." Sam sniffs, and looks up back to me. Once doing so, I see his eyes, red from the tears dripping down his face. "Sa-Sam, are you okay?" I slowly walk towards him, but he backs off.
"Yeah, I'm sorry…I didn't want to grab you like that…" He turns around, and I could hear him trying to stop himself from breaking down. "Sam, it's okay, but why are you crying?" "It's just that…I…" He leans against the wall, taking a deep breath as he did. "I have to tell you something…" "Uhm, sure." I walk closer to him and he starts talking.
"You know, I actually transferred here three days ago." "Okay, but what does that have to do with me?" "The reason I transferred here is…Because…" He wipes his tears and holds my hands. "It's because you're my sister, Anna…" My eyes widen and I immediately let go of Sam's hands.
"What?" Sam stands up, and looks at me. "You're my sister, Anna." "Are you okay, Sam? What are you talking about?" "Our Mom didn't want you, so she put you up for adoption…" "Okay, stop bullshitting me. Just because I'm an emotional, and weak girl, doesn't mean I'm fucking dumb!" "I'm serious, you have to believe me, Anna!"
"I think you're making up stuff in your head because of stress. I'm an only child, and I'm not adopted!" "I'm not making stuff up, Anna! Don't you find it weird?" "Find what weird?" "That you don't look anything like Zoe, and Jack baker." "How do you know my parents' names?" "Because our parents are friends with them. Our parents asked them to adopt you since they knew that they'd be able to
take care of you a lot better than Mom and our Step father could at the time." "Step father?" "Yeah, when our Mom was pregnant with you, our biological father left because he was too scared of having to take care of us two. Our stepfather was Mom's best friend at the time, and he suggested that she should put you up for adoption. Then, the year after, they became boyfriend and girlfriend and had Shane. After having Shane, they felt guilty about putting you
up for adoption, so, since you haven't been adopted yet, they asked Zoe and Jack Baker to adopt you." "But why didn't they just adopt me back?" "They thought that it'd be easier for you to be with Zoe and Jack." "I don't get it, why tell me now?" "This was the bestest time I could find to tell you." "I…" I sit down on the floor, trying to process what Sam just told me. "Look, I know that this is a lot to take in, and I'm sorry for taking too long to say it to you."
"I can't…Are you telling the truth right now?" "Yes." I sigh and stand up. "Okay, thank you for telling me. I…I need more time to think about this…" "That totally fine, but…I actually have one more thing to tell you." Sam walked closer to me, his body shaking a little bit. "What is it?" "I'm currently hiding this from everyone, but I think you have the right to know as well." "You're making me nervous. What is it?" "The Riddler…Is our biological Father."
