+54 Grind : Forest of Kin ¹²

Heat was something I was close to , warmth was what I needed. Coming from a family well known for it's fire attribute uses things like me being attracted towards heat or surviving at high temperature was normal for me.

But that changed the day I met him , it was a cold night. Just when I was about to sleep I heard a loud blast from our training ground , and 30 minutes later I found myself holding him in my hands.

The heat which I liked , the warmth that I needed , he gave none of those things to me. But just being besides him felt good enough that I could stop yearning for the warmth , and just let his coldness seep into my body.

His body trembled when he held me and told me one of his darkest fear , I didn't know how he was feeling after revisiting his memory. He didn't look good when he was telling me his secrets , at that time I thought that this all happened because of me.

'If only I didn't asked him'

If only... thinking that I decided to take responsibility for what I did and tried to console him. I wrapped my hands around him trying to calm him down and listen to what I had to say. Maybe I shouldn't have done that , giving him hope that I'll be here for him.

After few hours I regretted consoling him , my brother and father always used to tell me to not be too kind. And now I knew the reason why they said that to me , the kindness I showed just now could leave him even more hurt.

The next day I found him lying down on floor helpless just like yesterday's night , I could've ignored him and just leave him alone. But instead of the warmth I now yearned for his cold body to be besides me.

"My Lady , Grand Duke of Frontia Kingdom is here to meet you."

But life doesn't always go the way you want it to , sometimes there are better options like the man who stood before.

"Princess Lecilia greets Grand Duke Kildian , Welcome to the Serven Palace."

That's how life goes and we just have to deal with it.

The awaken Mid's skin now was slowly turning into human skil color , it's face which it wasn't suppose to have was also slowly forming.

'Damn , this is really scary to think that monsters like Garfons can transform into human. Does Garius know about this? There may be Mid's who already have transformed and living in the kingdom.'

'Huh'

Devian's voice snapped me back to reality , the awakened Mid was no longer in my sight.

'Huh , where did he go? Hey Devian sniff him out for me.'

'Yeah , yeah. I got it now search for him PLEASE.'

He didn't reply to my words and didn't say a word for few seconds.

'Hey Devian don't search for him.'

'No , stop it right now.'

'I can't cause the awakened infront of me.'

'If even Devian couldn't sense him then this is a big problem.'

Last time Devian couldn't sense a person or monster was when Jered attacked me , and the power that person held wasn't even funny.

'If he wanted he could've killed me right when I attacked that kid.'

The awakened appeared before me in an instant with a speed I've never seen.

'What!? How th-'

He punch me which sent me flying until I was stopped by a tree , even the tree was damaged because of the power of it's punch.

「 You've taken 8832 damage 」

'Sh*t he's too powerful.'

I focused my eyes on him and tired to see his status window , but no message opened before me.

"Damn , is he that higher than me?"

I stood up and took out my daggers to defend against the awakened , because of it's high agility it was impossible for me to keep track of him with my base stats. Because of that I had to use 'Inhuman Instincts' and 'Dark Fuse' combination from the start.

The skills made it easy for me to dodge the monster's attacks. The monster finally started getting serious and started attacking my vital organs with it's magic skills. He didn't call out the skills name which made it hard for me to dodge them , a fireball came aiming for my head while the monster appeared behind me with the use of 'Haste'.

The awakened had claws which were a great weapons for a high agility monsters , the claws of Mid behind were glowing which meant that the next attack was going to be some kind of skill. I could dodge the fireball easily but then I wouldn't be able to dodge against the incoming attacks from the back.

'Sh*t if only I didn't take that punch , that punch could've been a skill too. If it was a skill then this is going to hurt.'

"Crimson Fireball"

I used my fireball to neutralize against its and then made dodging it's claws my priority. Luckily I was still on ground and not in mid air or else my escape would've been impossible. I lowered my head trying to dodge it's attack but that's when it's knee hit me in my abdomen.

「 You've taken 3829 damage 」

Even though I was able to dodge it's claws it's knee attack still did a lot of damage.

'Argh , if this goes on I wouldn't last for even a minute.'

At that moment I thought of the objective of the quest which was to 'liberate' the awakened not to kill them.

'Maybe I can talk to him?'

With that I started trying to converse with it , in between the punches and kicks I was able to open my mouth and talk with him.

"Excuse-"

A right kick aiming for my hand came towards me , but I was able to block it.

"could you-"

Another kick came this time aiming for my head , if it this kick hit my head then I probably would've fallen down because of the power it contained. Because of this I decided to dodge it rather than blocking it.

"please try-"

This time it didn't attack me and retreated making some distance between us. The reason was the next words Devian said ,

Hearing those words , a chill went down my spine. Not only me but it was same for the awakened , it started shaking hearing Devian's words. It looked like my ancestor didn't really saw the Garfon's as a living being , of course the same went for me which was why I used the word 'it' for them.

But I didn't call them scum or anything like that , luckily the awakened heard his words and froze at one place.

"Hey..."

'Sh*t what do I call him?'

"Hey M-Mid , don't you think that y-you're wasting your youth eating humans? Why not just stop eating them?"

'F*ck what the hell am I even saying?'

The reason why I was stuttering wasn't because I was scared , it was because-

'My social skills are dogsh*t.'

"A-And you know tha-"

Before I could complete my sentence the awakened was already out of my sight , it didn't stop to listen to the pile of sh*t I was talking and resumed it's attack. Devian wasn't also as active as he was before.

My skills were also coming to a end , the awakened who was hidden somewhere out of no where suddenly jumped infront of me. It's claw were again glowing and this time with the distance between us dodging it was impossible , I tried attacking with 'Thruster' and neutralize his attack but didn't make it in time.

「 You've taken 12371 damage 」

The claw even penetrated through the training suit given by Garius , blood started gushing out of my abdomen while awakened licked the blood off it's claws. My MP was about to rock bottom and I already lost more than half of my HP during this short battle.

'Damn , if only I could control that f*cking sword.'

For the last time I tried to control that sword , the sword started shaking and lifting itself up to my command. But after few seconds of trying in the end it fell right back to the place it was in.

'I can't just give up , I've to go back to her.'

This time was different , this time desire to control the sword was more than before. It was because I was desperate , desperate to return to her after long 23 days. So not giving up I tried to infuse my mana in the sword and then this happened.

「 A new skill will be created 」
