Practical Exams

I caught him the same time something made him float up into the air.

"Woah, I didn't use my quirk! How are you flying?" I asked.

"This isn't me." He cried, flailing out his arms.

"Calm down." I cooed, grabbing his hands.

"Sorry about that. I used my quirk. It's bad luck to trip on your first day." A girl said.

She has short brown hair and brown eyes. She had pink cheeks and a cute smiled. She smiled kindly at us and put her hand together. Midoriya dropped to the ground, with me catching him from face planting.

"You okay?" I asked.

He nodded and looked like he wanted to say something to the girl.

"He says thanks. He's a bit shy until he gets to know you." I said to her.

"Oh. That's okay. It was nice to meet you." She said, waving and walking away.

"You too! Nice Midoriya. I'm the only girl you can talk to and you still blush around me. You're never gonna get a girlfriend." I said.

He chuckled and held his fist up.

"We got this." He said.

I bumped it and we made our way into the exam room. We sat there through the explanation and Present Mics loud but fun voice. After explaining a point system for the exam, Midoriya was muttering the entire time about it.

"Um, Mido?" I said, trying to grab his attention.

"I have a question!" A blue-haired boy close to the front shouted. He stood up and spoke about some error in the papers they had handed out to everyone.

"And you!" He whipped around and pointed at Midoriya.

I tensed. If this boy was looking for a fight, I was happy to engage myself in one.

"You've been muttering this whole time! If you're not going to take this seriously. you should leave. We're here to be heroes-"

"Oi! Shut it and sit down." I snapped, putting a hand out in front of Midoriya.

The blue-haired boy's jaw dropped as he stuttered.

"Or I'll do it for you." I snarled when he didn't move.

He snapped his mouth shut and sat down in his seat. The examinees around me shuffled in their seat and looked at Midoriya and I.

I sighed and sat back in my seat, scooting slightly closer to Midoriya who turned pinkish while thinking.

After that lovely incident, we were getting ready for the physical exam. I stood next to Midoriya as we were separated from another to different testing areas.

"I hope you do well Mido. See you in a bit! Be careful!" I shouted as I ran over to my testing grounds.

We all stepped in and it all began.

I slowly walked up to one of the bots and threw an experimental punch at it. My fist left a huge dent and I nodded approvingly.

I turned slightly and kicked it, sending it flying into a nearby building. I kicked about 20 more before I got tired.

"Wow, that training was pretty effective." I said looking down at my hands.

"Hey!" I turned to see a boy my age with red hair and sharp teeth.

"Hi." I said, smiling.

"That was amazing!" He grinned at me.

"Thank you." I said moving to the exit.

"Hey! What's your name?" He asked.

"Tatakai!" I called running.

"I'm Kirishima!" He shouted after me.

"Bye!" I shouted.

I ran to Midoriya's training grounds and came over to a scene where everyone was huddled around something. I pushed my way through to find Midoriya laying facedown on the concrete.

"MIDORIYA!" I shouted.

I shoved my way through the crowd and to him. I dropped to my knees and picked him up.

"Midoriya . . . . . . " I whispered, facing him to me.

~Aizawa's Point of View~

I saw the boy jump into the air and smash the zero pointer in one punch. I was slightly impressed until he fell to the ground, unable to save himself. A brown haired girl slapped him as he fell and he floated.

"Ah. Ochako Uraraka. Quirk: Zero Gravity. She can make this gravityless including people and any object. Large objects are a struggle and so are multiple. If used too much, she gets nauseous." To their my point, on screen, she clamped a hand over her mouth to help with her gag reflex.

I was silent, watching with interest.

"The boy-" Everyone's eyes went to the screen as the boy fell to the ground and didn't move. A moment later, a girl with long black hair and pretty green eyes came over and picked the green haired boy up.

Fear was in her eyes as she looked into his face and called out some words. She carried him in her arms with ease and made her way to the exit.

"Who's that?" Someone asked.

"Hikari Tatakai. Top scorer in the written exam and physical with 97 points. Clearly a friend of the boy who is Izuku Midoriya. Quirk: Elemental Control. She can control the elements in anyway she wants. She produces fire, ice, and water from her body. Water can only appear when she sweats, but fire and ice have no conditions, she can still use water as long as she has a source. For her power to work on the earth, she has to be near it or touching it. She has a certain range as to how far her hold on the element goes. As for air, there's no need to explain that, she breathes the damn stuff."

I sat through the explanation and looked thoughtfully at her as she defended the boy from a robot someone had missed when she ran for the exit.

She didn't even use her quirk, she simply plant one foot before the approaching robot and swung in the air, destroying it with a kick. It collapsed and she continued, dodging any last pieces of debris and gave Midoriya off to Recovery Girl. The other students had arrived just in time to see her plant a huge kiss on his forehead.

Tatakai bit her lip with concern as she watched. A few of Midoriya's cuts and bruises healed, but his broken bones would need a small amount of time.

Some nurse bots brought a stretcher and Tatakai gently laid Midoriya down on it and they took him away. The camera remained on her as she took a deep breath and did something that made all of the observers in the room snap to attention.

She had snapped her fingers and we all turned to with the camera to see the debris and destruction from the exam return to normal. The broken buildings and their pieces started melding back together and perfecting it. The robots stayed the same, destroyed, but the earth and boulders all melded back into the ground.

"What in the world?" Someone said wonderingly

"Well, that's interesting." I said.

There was a small chuckled and I turned to see Toshinori.

"What?" I asked.

"She got stronger. She used to only be able to fix a broken wooden table or a cracked sidewalk. Now she can fix cities. I'm intimidated." He said.

"You know her?" I asked.

"She's friends with Young Midoriya." He stated.

"I saw. What do you know about them?" I asked.

"Nothing about Young Tatakai, but Young Midoriya strives to be a hero. He's passionate and kind hearted. He's got a heroes heart." Toshinori said.

I grunted and looked back to see Tatakai finish fixing the exam arena and nod with acceptance of her work. She chased after Recovery Girl and the nurse bots, going off screen.

~Hikari's Point of View~

I arrived in the nurse's office after asking for a few directions on the way. I opened the door to find Midoriya awake and smiling as he conversed with the little lady who had healed him.

He turned his shining eyes on me when I opened the door.

"Tatakai! Hey-" He didn't get to finish before I smacked the back of his head.

"Easy dear." The little lady said, watching with an amused expression on her face.

"Ow . . ." Midoriya whined, rubbing his head.

"You idiot. I told you to be careful! Do you have any idea how much you worried me?" I ranted.

"I'm sorry! I didn't know the effects would have been that bad!" He defended himself.

I scoffed and sat down next to him on the cot. He instinctively leaned closer to me and I sighed.

"What did you do to result in breaking both legs and your right arm?" I asked.

He looked at Recovery Girl before turning to me.

"I'll tell you later. I really wanna know how you did!" He asked.

I grinned and looked up thoughtfully.

"I dunno. I smashed about 21 robots in all, but I wasn't keeping track of the points they held. I'm quite curious actually." I said. I frowned at him. "It was originally 20 robots, but came to 21 when I had to destroy one on the way to save your reckless butt. You dumbass, what did I say about being reckless?"

"Nothing? You've never said the exact work 'reckless' so really-" I pinched his cheek and gave off a deadly smile.

"You wanna finish that?" I asked, pulling on his cheek.

"No, no, I was kidding!" He cried.

I continued bugging him about how careful he should be until we went home.

During those two weeks it took to get our results back, Midoriya and I didn't stop training. I stood aside, taking my first break on the last day before we got our results and waited as Midoriya stretched out his tired muscles and drank water.

When he was done, he and I made our way, running down the neighborhood before we came across the Municipal Beach.

"Midoriya . . ." I said, gaining his attention.

"Yeah Takai?" He said, slowing to a stop in the area we cleaned and met All Might.

He had shortened my name and I found it adorable. I couldn't help but smile a bit before it vanished.

"You still haven't told me about the exam. I heard . . . . your quirk did it." I sat down in the sand and looked up at him. "Tell me. Have you had a quirk this whole time?" I asked.

His face was grim as he sat down next to me.

"The only reason I can think of is that your quirk injures you. So you don't use it. But you want to be a hero so bad, you're willing to put yourself through all this pain. Why didn't you just show Bakugou once so he'd back off?"

Midoriya opened his mouth and words I didn't expect came out.

"I didn't have a quirk." He said.

I looked at him.

"Midoriya, we're born with our quirks. Either you have one, or you don't. That's that." I said.

"NOT EXACTLY, YOUNG TATAKAI!" I loud voice behind me said.

Midoriya and I whipped around to see All Might in a white t-shirt and khaki cargo pants.

"All Might!" Midoriya said, standing up. I followed him over as we greeted the pro hero.

"Yo." I said, flashing him a peace sign.

"'Yo' to you too Young Tatakai." He said.

"Hikari." I said.

"Yes! I overheard your conversation, and that is not exactly true! Seeing at though Young Midoriya trusts you to tell this to not even his mother, but only to you, we shall tell you our little secret!"

"Being able to give someone a quirk isn't exactly a little secret." I said.

All Might looked shocked that I was able to gather that much from the few words Midoriya said.

"Let me explain!" All Might cheered.
