Prologue

This is the end of days. We stand here ready to do battle with evil incarnate. We all have our reasons for being here. A lost soul took her during her sixteenth birthday, A once-prominent champion wrestler heeding the call of his warrior ancestry, the broken-hearted beast, and last but not least me a twenty-year-old lost in the world fresh from high school. Directionless in the world, until the faith and duty of not one guardian bloodline but two who have fought against darkness and the ever-present evil.

The sun began to sit in the distance. The glow of the orange-painted sky sets the backdrop to what's about to be one of the most important battles of all existence.

The quiet peaceful autumn dusk is destroyed by The sound of the large red-painted church doors open. Figures exit the sanctuary preparing for the final battle.

A cloaked lone figure approaches the building hiding among the shadows cast by the setting sun. Avoiding its rays the figure silently approaches the group. The figure lowers the hood of the cloak revealing a young teenage girl with porcelain white skin and long curly auburn hair.

"The army's of Ash began to arrive from all directions," she reports, "They saw me but did not attack just yet. He must be toying with us. "

A loud voice flows into the minds of all the guardians" Why Scarlett you know me all too well. Ruining my little surprise, you know how to suck all the fun out of things," the voice replied.

" Is this what you have been reduced to,crappy puns? You never were that funny." She replies.

" I will show you funny," the voice boomed in her head. At that point, several clowns appeared out of thin air. They turned to Scarlett with their beady little eyes and large black noses. And smiled with their razor-sharp teeth.

Their skin was void of any natural colors rather they look as if they slid right off the reel of an old 1920s movie. The monochrome monstrosities begin to cackle with a devilish unearthly sound escaping their monochromatic lips. The demonic clowns laugh as they pull mallets covered with barb wire and spikes out of thin air.

They begin their charge of her. Three colorless streaks rush toward her like pirana to a fresh meal. She smiles countering them with ease. Brandishing Her own weapons she makes short work of the first clown.

Striking with her razor-sharp claws she removes the nose and ears of the first clown, dodging the monstrous behemoth as it swings its club.

The second clown lets out a hideous shriek as Scarlet cuts it with her talons eviscerate it with ease.

Turning to the final clown she faces it head-on avoiding the storm of punches. She dodges the creatures moves with ease until she finds her opening lunging onto the large colorless monstrosity and buries her teeth into its neck and ripping out its throat.

Blood and confetti begin to shoot out of the wounds of all the clowns as they fall to the ground. She turns and looks at David with a mildly disgusted look. "go ahead and say it. If you don't, he will."

David a 20 year old brown haired green eyed postteen starts to crack a smile, " did he taste funny to you," he replies trying not to laugh. She glares at her great nephew forgetting he is only a few years older then she was before she became this monster.

Taking this into Consideration and the situation they find themselves Scarlett realized it is good to laugh. After all, the hell she has dealt with since that horrible night it's easy to forget the little things that make someone human.

She stands ready as a new wave of creatures arrive when distant memories drift in her mind reminding her of that awful night.
