Chapter 23: God's Will

"What is my love thinking?" I looked at the source of the baritone voice from behind me. After the scene earlier, I thought of just coming to the terrace to think. Sunny also just slept so I went here alone. I never thought Drew would follow me. Alots of questions confuses my mind. How much I wanted to ask my parents, how they survived, and why they just showed up to me. And why Drew knows them. But I didn't have the courage to ask them that. I do not know. I took a deep breath before answering his question.

"Nothing. I'm just happy." I smiled in response to him. He hugged me from behind then he sniffed my hair.

"You still smell so sweet darling." He said sexily. I laughed when he said that.

"You're still the same, you always fooled me." I said laughing as I widened my eyes. I heard him chuckled because of what I said.

"I know you have a lot of questions Sydney," I slowly lost my smile because of what Andrew said. Yes, he is right. I have a lot of questions. But I don't know how to start asking that to my parents.

"It wasn't important at all...the important thing was that they were alive and we were together again." I said passionately. Drew didn't say a word. Instead he slowly untied the coil of his two arms around my waist. He turned to me and held my hand.

"C'mon, they're waiting for you." Immediately my heartbeat quickened. Nervously, I held out my hand to Drew and holding hands, we went to the living room where mama and papa were waiting.

"I'll leave you first, it's getting late. I'll be back tomorrow." Drew politely said goodbye to mama and papa.

"Take care, and thank you." Mom says. Dad just smiled back at Drew.

"Take care." I sparingly told him.

"I will." Drew replied cheerfully before kissing me on the forehead.

When Drew left, there were only three of us in the living room.

"Sydney, my daughter." Mom calls me. I turned my attention to her.

"I know you have a lot of questions. So your Dad and I are here to explain everything to you." She added. I just nodded to mama to let her pursue the explanation she wanted.

"Fifteen years ago, after the accident..." Mom's voice suddenly trembled. Dad quickly took Mom's hand and gently squeezed it.

"...your Dad and I woke up with no one to remember. We knew each other, but you...w-we don't remember you. W-we don't remember you." Tears welled up in mom's eyes one by one. That scene seemed very painful for her. Anyone maybe. I just realized that I was already crying.

"A great doctor took care of us for over a year," Mom nodded, "Yeah, over a year before we woke up from being comatose." I suddenly clenched my fist because of that. It's all my demon aunt's fault.

"Dr. Khalil Cervantes Sr., great doctor with a big heart. He owns the Miracle Hospital, the hospital that your Dad and I manage now." I was surprised by what mom said.

"Managed?" I wonder. As far as I remember, mama and papa is a businessman and woman, not a doctor.

"He taught us medicine when we finally recovered. He took us to Canada to study medicine there."

"At that time, your Dad and I thought we were just lovers. We don't even remember that we were married and had a child."

"When your Dad and I graduated, we returned to the Philippines to work at Dr. Cervantes' hospital. We had only been working for three years when Dr. Cervantes died, we had no idea that Dr. Cervantes named us the hospital, that belongs to him. He says, it seems like we are children his children...and with his disappearance is the eventual return of our memories."

"Nine years Sydney, we forgot about you for nine years. I'm sorry, sorry Sydney." I was surprised when mama suddenly knelt in front of me. Her hands trembled as she reached for my hand. Tears welled up in my eyes. It's not their fault if they forgot me, it's not their fault, just like me, they are just victims. I quickly stood up to help mama stand up.

"Mom! It's not your fault! Don't feel sorry for me, because we are all victims here." Mama nodded and hugged me tightly.

"Thank you, you still haven't changed. You're still very good." Dad hugged us too. After we hugged and let go of each other I suddenly remembered to ask them something.

"How about Drew? How did he meet you?" I asked confused.

"I'm Chairman Alfred's Personal Doctor," Dad replied. I nodded.

"Since when?"

"Six years ago." That was the time I was in the province.

"Did you look for me after you remembered me?" Mom and Dad looked at each other before looking at me again.

"Of course. We also looked for your aunt Fely, but your aunt don't always have the same time to us, so I haven't talked to her yet."

"When did you find out that aunt's an evil?"

"W-what, evil?" Mama asked confused.

"You don't know anything?" Mom and Dad shook at the same time. Shet! Maybe my aunt didn't even know that my Mama and Papa were still alive.

"She's the reason behind. She's the mastermind why we had an accident fifteen years ago. She runied us! And that's because she's jealous and angry with you Mom."

"What the hell!" Mama could almost stand up in rage and shock.

"She's already in jailed." I said that mama was surprised.

"What? How?"

"Let's not talk about her anymore, Mom, Dad. The important thing now is that we're together again. We're whole again." I stood up and hugged them both.

The next morning, we went to the precinct early. Like me, Mom and Dad were furious with Aunt Fely for what she did.

"Were you surprised?" Aunt Fely's face remained emotionless. She was just an idiot staring at nothingness.

"You're going to rot in jail sister! You're so heartless! You're worthless sister!" I know and I feel Mom's anger for aunt, but it doesn't matter that aunt Fely just doesn't exist. Since Mama is going missing, Papa is helping her to get out of the visiting area. I was left with Aunt Fely.

"I don't want you here. I didn't put you in jail either because I want to take revenge on you ... I just did it so you can learn something..."

"—that no amount of money can ever equal the goodness of a person, and above all having a complete and happy family. I know you know that because you are here now, far away from Belle, and alone." After I said that to Aunt Fely, I stood up to turn my back on her. But before that, I saw the successive flow of tears in her eyes. She was still speechless, she was still staring blankly when I left.
