Side Chapter; David Cross' Intentions

It's been a day since I met and fought with royalty of another country. While she may be hiding it by dressing up like a knight and pretending to be a servant, her heritage and power cannot be hidden from me. I read a lot about the Empire and I know that the lightning dragon is a symbol of royalty. I don't know what she's doing here, but I'm sure the teachers noticed this as well. She's a princess.

"Bring me all the information regarding the Empire's powers." I asked my servants.

I need to learn more about her. A princess playing servant for a mere marquis of the Lunite Kingdom is nothing but a big joke.

She's strong enough to rival me and hurt me in a one-on-one battle. Whether she owes her life to that girl or she is lying to her, I'll find out. For her to be able to run away from the Empire is a great achievement.

I would love to hear all about how she left. Perhaps it could give me some ideas for my escape. To leave the position of Duke I'll need to somehow escape the Rena kingdom and go live somewhere else. Maybe I'll work as a bodyguard like her. That would be nice.

I heard the marquis was strong, but to have a bodyguard of her caliber around, must mean she isn't stronger than me. I can use that and get close to her and learn all about her. As of tomorrow, I'll start trying to befriend her. I need to.

"Here are the documents you asked for, sir." My servant brought me a pile of old books with the history of the Empire and its royalty. Maybe I can figure out who she is. Pure lightning isn't common in the Empire.

I touched my chest, where she left a burn mark and pain surged through my body. She hit me really hard.

"Soon I'll be free as well."
