Silence

It was a petty fight he never wanted to get used to.

"I know you're trying your best for this. This is your comeback drama, am I right? I understand that. I fully understand your dream. But is it wrong for me to ask for your time? As the love of your life?" Friya felt numb after saying those words. Sean shifted his gaze, glancing straight at her saddened eyes.

Sean's heart ache after a moment. He stepped up, but Friya refused to receive his touch. She wanted to be alone for a moment.

"I'm sorry. I mean it when I apologize," Sean whispered. He wanted to be close to her. He needs to hug her tight. Friya's gleaming eyes made Sean knuckle into his fists.

"You're my only rest, Sean. We are living on the same roof, but it doesn't feel like it, anyway," Friya conceded as a tear escaped her eye after. She spun around and locked herself inside the room.

As someone sent down a chilling sensation down his spine, he froze. The wall clock ticked its seconds. The hand moved at its accord. Tears came out from Sean's eyes as that silent fight was what he hated the most.

It was tolerable to shriek everything. If he was furious enough, he could tumble those anguished words out in no time. But since he's in front of Friya, he would never do that. He promised not to.

He licked his lips, gritting his teeth. Sean closed his eyes, fumbled for the car keys in his pocket, and ran up to the door quickly. He slipped in his shoes, fuming over his nose, and went out of the house as soon as possible.

Friya turned her head to the side, looking at the shadow dispersed at the foot of the door. She stood up, grabbed the doorknob, and peeked outside.

He's gone. He went out saying nothing. Friya expected more for him.

...

The year of 2019, a rainy one, but Sean had committed the biggest mistake he had ever done in his life. His relationship with Friya might fall apart, but his tight grip wouldn't loose. He will fight for her in the end. After all, she's his first love.

He stopped the car after drifting away from their home. The petty argument they had wasn't the type he had to get used to. He stepped out, sniffing the wild air of the club.

Sean wasn't the man who had gotten used to drinking alcohol. But this time, he doesn't know why his feet went along with his desire. His body must be desperate to drink a little.

He placed his hands inside the pockets of his jackets. He pushed open the swiveling door with his shoulder. Sean's ears bombarded with the demeaning music. The azure, purplish and orange dazzling lights circled around the air. Noises from here and there could decipher.

Sean walked past ahead to a man and a woman kissing down by a sneaky hallway, their tongues exploring each other. They're wearing the uniform of Del Rio University. How come they could come in here with those uniforms on? The narrow minds they had wouldn't get them anywhere.

He turned halfway and disgusted by those kids.

"Kids nowadays," Sean breathed. He sprinted to the counter, where a bartender smiled down to his customers. Sean looked around and saw an empty seat. He sat down on that swiveling chair.

"Sean? What are you doing here?" a woman embarked. He knew that voice. It was Feline, one of his co-workers in the TSV Studios.

Sean gaped, "Feline... you're here too."

Silence overpowered their surroundings at the moment. She didn't look ecstatic as he thought. She spun her stool around, drank the remnants inside the wineglass.

He signed to the bartender. He only ordered one beer. Perfect for cooling off the heat.

"Do you know each other? You seem to command him easily than I do." Feline mumbled, pointing out his actions. Sean pursed his lips, saw that Feline ordered one glass of tequila once again. Their mouths shut tight in a minute. No one wanted to initiate a conversation.

"Do Friya and you argue?" Feline received the wineglass, and she bowed down her head courteously. Sean looked at her, furrowed his eyebrows at what he heard.

"How did you know?" Sean retorted. No one wanted to talk about their private lives, unless that person was close to them. In Feline's case, she was an acquaintance. Not someone who Sean called as a friend.

"You seemed a little out of air. Something happened, isn't it? I can know by looking at your eyes," Feline mumbled. Her monotonous words specified the emotions Sean wanted to hide. She placed the wineglass back on the counter and licked her lips.

The bittersweet taste of the tequila was all gone. Knowing that Sean was here, she wasn't alone anymore. Sean avoided to reply but Feline pressed on, snapping, "It's right. Both of you argued. No doubt about that."

Sean breathed, answered, "Right. We argued. But it's nobody's business, including you."

He snapped that, intending to push Feline away. He wasn't in a good mood for now. Sean knew how annoying it was. He came here to drink after all, not to chitchat to a woman he barely even knew.

"I'll listen to you. After all, we knew each other for a long time. We've been working on a same company. I'm no different on you, Sean," Feline remarked. It's the truth. She doesn't want to get pushed farther with the one she likes.

Feline likes Sean since high school. His eyes fixed on Althea around that time. Feline didn't seem to bother to the guys who liked her. She has her eyes on one man only. And it was that man with dimples on both cheeks. His teeth glowed every time he smiled.

Sean chortled. "If you would listen, would you even understand?"

He turned to her, gazing at her eyes. Feline sniffed, beamed, and simply nodded. She was a good listener, if Sean knew her very well.
