Chapter 19

I woke up to a loud man calling me while I was chained to a wall in a dungeon. I looked around trying to remember how I had gotten here.

"Did you hear me witch?"A guard asked.

"What?"I asked him not having heard anything

"Soon you'll be burnt at the stake like the rest of your putrid kind." He said and let out a laugh.

"Pathetic mortal. I've been impaled, burnt, buried alive, drowned, drawn and quartered and yet I'm still here. You really think your primitive ways can kill me." I told him then laughed.

He walked over to me and slapped me then I spit in his face and broke free of the chains and snapped his neck and simply walked out of the dungeon.

It seemed like a simple walk out of the castle but then something I didn't expect happened. The skies turned an ominous shade of red and the wall right infront of me disintegrated into nothingness and Samael flew through the hole in the wall and stood at the end of the hallway.

He then started walking towards me his long black wings dragging behind him and I could hear the humans chattering about what was happening.

"Samael." I said to him.

"Damien." He responded.

"Why have you come here boy?" I asked him.

"You and I have business to attend to." He said.

"I have no business with you. Now get out of my way before I make you." I told him as my hands clenched into fists

He flew at me full force and tossed me on to the ground outside of Camelot. I quickly got up and watched as he hovered above me.

"ENOUGH!!" Emilia called as she drew our attention.

"It is time we have a family discussion." She said.

Emilia POV:

"Do not worry Damien. It's not like I can kill you and I know you're not capable of killing me." I told him

"Very well so what business does this mistake have in this realm." Damien said as he addressed Samael.

"His job is to guide his siblings towards their destinies." I answered him.

"What do you mean?" He asked me confused.

"The day you failed your family. Mother cast an identity spell on Emryce and Morgana. One that can only be broken once they've fulfilled their destinies but there is a problem. Their destinies are entwined and as fate would have it one of them will die by the others hand. We need to make sure they survive." Samael explained to Damien.

"Haven't you two learnt yet. You cannot tamper with fate. The results could be cataclysmic. If that is their fate there is nothing we can do but let it unfold." Damien told us.

"They are our children Damien!! OUR CHILDREN!!" I yelled at Damien.

"I know but there is nothing I nor anyone can do to alter their fate." Damien told us and he began to walk away.

"If you ever cared about me or our family. You'll help us, Damien." I said to Damien trying to appeal to his humanity.

"Even if I wanted to help. I don't know how I would stop them from killing each other when fate has sealed their destinies in stone." Damien explained to us.

"Even stone can be broken. You have to be able to alter their fates." I pleaded with Damien.

"I shall see what I can do but I can promise nothing. Understand that." He explicitly told me.

"Very well. All that matters is that you try." I said to him.

Damien left to do what I had asked whilst I had Samael do a different task.

"My child. I need you to go to Emryce and keep him shielded from his destiny. Even if it means he will never know who he is." I said to him and he went as quickly as the wind.

In the two years I'd been searching for Damien. I also kept a close eye on my children. Morgana was easy to monitor seeing as she was in Camelot but Emryce was taken by a woman known as Hrinthik. She adopted him and raises him as her own.

She saw it fit to move him out of Camelot and she was right seeing as Emryce had already begun manifesting abilities before he could properly walk.

The years after I lost my family something inside me broke and I vowed to get vengeance on Uther and Damien. I gathered followers. People who's lives served no meaning. I trained them in the art of survival. Pushed them beyond their human limits and turned them into instruments of death.

Over the years the number of my followers grew and with it their reputation. The farthest reaches of the land had heard tale of a group of dangerous men and women who moved like the shadows and killed without hesitation .Soon people began calling them the Shadow of death.

An assassin organization built in the span of two years. This group was feared by all even the most powerful kings and with good reason. My assassins were precise, dangerous and well versed in the magical practices. That's what made them so feared.

So when word got out that a few of my assassins wound up dead in France this raised eyebrows as no one had ever managed to kill them before. Damien had cast a spotlight on my organization as well as himself. All the kings of the lands had placed a bounty on him and on the leader of the Shadow of death.

That is why I needed Damien's help because I could not risk being exposed. I needed to hide until all was well for me to resume my works but I also couldn't stand by and watch as what remained of my family die down.

It hurt my pride to beg Damien for his help but I had no other option. I also knew that once his job was complete I could use that as an opportunity to trap and deliver pieces of him to the kings of the realms. It only seemed fair that I get my well deserved revenge.
