Under the Night Sky

He fixed my hair and cleaned the smudges of blood and dirt off my face with his thumb, I straightened my dress and made sure I looked okay before continuing walking alongside him. He was still on high alert as he took the bags from my hand even though I refused "I can handle this, don't worry" he said calmly letting me walk ahead of him

I know he was trying his best to look okay but I know that his wounds were serious, his shirt was covered in dirt and he was bleeding a lot. His side was drenched in his own blood seeping from his wound and even though he had already tied a piece of cloth around it, it was still flowing but he was strong

As I walked slowly in front of him, I worriedly took glances over my shoulder to make sure he was doing okay. He kept on surveying the area with keen eyes until we were almost at the castle gates.

As soon as the tall rock walls came within our vision, Monty quickly threw the stick to the side and composed himself into walking as if nothing happened. He stood tall, walking straight with his chin up in the air, stretching his wound he was tough like that

"There's nothing to be worried about, we're here now" he said, giving me a reassuring smile as we got closer towards the gate where two men stood guard

Seeing us the two men gestured to open the tall metal doors in order for us to pass through

"Good evening, Your Highness! Good evening, Captain!" the two men happily greeted then bowing their heads as we came in through the gates, I just smiled back at them

"Good work both of you" I heard Monty praising them "I'll be off, Your Highness" Monty said bowing his head to me as the heavy wooden doors started to open revealing the interior of the castle and more guards coming into sight.

"Thank you for today, Monty" I said looking back at the door opening, getting the bags from his hand "Go straight to the infirmary, okay?" I whispered to him. He responded with a nod and smiled reassuringly back at me. With a heavy heart I had no choice but to go inside where the maids and guards were awaiting for me. I wanted to assist him and make sure he would arrive safely at the infirmary but he wouldn't want to worry the King once he finds out what happened outside. I took one last glance at him as the heavy wooden doors were closing, if it wasn't for his wounds we would've come in together but he needs to have it checked first.

"How was the village doing?" Julien asked waiting for me at the foot of the stairs

"It was okay, there were a lot of people and we bought a lot of things, Your Majesty!" showing him the bags I was carrying then giving them to a maid in the corner "There's also food in there. Please let someone from the kitchen serve it for dinner. Thank you" I instructed, she gave the food to another maid which went directly to the kitchen then she went upstairs to my bedroom to place the bags on the side of my bed

"Where's the Captain?" Julien asked

"He had urgent things to attend to, Your Majesty. But he will see you as soon as he's done" I explained hoping that Julien wouldn't ask anymore questions

"I see. I'll just wait for him at dinner then" he said walking towards the kitchen "What food have you bought us?" he said looking at me

"It's chicken pie and some soup, I think" I answered halfheartedly, Monty was on my mind. I was wondering if he was already at the infirmary, it wouldn't hurt to check right but the infirmary was on the other end of the castle, I could call the physician instead! I thought to myself as I ran up the stairs towards my chambers

Julien just looked at her amusingly with a small smile on his lips before continuing over to the kitchen

My smile slowly faded as the doors closed between us, leaving me under the night sky. My feet were heavy and my body was tingling from the pain. I had to hurry to the infirmary which was a bit far from where I was, there was only one way to get there faster.

I raised my right hand calling a guard near-by "Please get me my horse" I requested, he ran towards the staples which were closer to the castle

As I waited I couldn't help but stare at the beautiful black sky, magnifying the light of the scattered stars, the moon shyly hid itself behind the cottony clouds leaving the stars to do its job. Her smiles are always as bright as those stars I thought to myself as I gently closed my eyes to feel the cold wind dancing around me

"Excuse me, Captain but here's your horse." interrupted by a high pitched voice, the young guard handed me the reins

"Thank you" I gripped the reins hard as I suddenly felt a pang of pain at my side but I couldn't let this young boy see me like this so as painful as it truly is I kept my expression resolute.

I took a deep long breath and mustered up all my strength to step on the stirrup and drag myself over the horse. I've lost too much blood I thought as my vision was starting to get blurry.

Quickly settling onto it's saddle and giving her a slight squeeze, she began to move. Shifting my weight forward then clicking my tongue quietly she trotted forward.

The moment she began to go faster my entire side throbbed in pain, I could feel every hoof touching the ground as it vibrated through my wound, stretching it open. I could feel the rush of blood leaving my body faster but I don't have time to slow down

The noise must have alerted the physician as an old tall man came into my vision as I got closer, he was in his 70's and has served the Royal family ever since he finished studying medicine. He's a kind and energetic man, always looking out for everyone. He had neck length wavy gray hair that made him look younger than his age and an athletic body from running back and forth all over the castle.

"Whoa!" I exclaimed firmly as I gently tapped the side of the horse to make it stop. I trained my horse differently than the others to ensure no one will ride her, Magnolia is sensitive to other people and often becomes uncontrollable

As soon as the horse stopped my vision abruptly turned black and I didn't know what had happened next
