Chapter 2: Day 2, Adventure

I can't believe we are going to a different state. I've never been in a different state before. It was still quiet….a little too quite. I kept staring at Austin because it looked like he was pretty bothered about something. Don't tell me he's still mad about James flirting with me.

"Austin, do you have anything to say to me?" I was really bothered by him not saying what he's mad about.

"Huh? W-what do you mean?" he asked.

"It seems like something is bothering you. Is everything okay?" I asked.

"Yea….So don't worry about me okay?" he told me.

"Okay…." I replied.

I know that he seems bothered but why won't he say it?

"If something's on your mind why don't you just say it? Can't you see that you're making her worried?" James said, looking at me while I blushed.

"You really wanna know?" Austin asked.

"No. I don't wanna know." Mia said which surprised me.

"I have a feeling that what you're about to say will cause problems and you're the one that would be in danger. So I don't want to hear it." Mia told him.

She has never really talked like that before. Is she really okay? They're both acting really weird. Could it be because James is here?

"But I really want to know what he wants to say." James told her.

"And I told you I don't." Mia told him. "If he does, I'm going back home and our friendship will be over." Mia added.

"Why are you ending our friendship for something you don't know would even happen?" I asked her.

"BECAUSE I ALREADY KNOW WHAT HE'S GOING TO SAY AND I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT. GOT IT!" she yelled which caught me off guard.

" WELL YOU STILL SHOULDN'T BREAK OFF OUR FRIENDSHIP FOR SOMETHING THAT COULD BE SO STUPID!" I said fighting back.

"ARGH!" Mia said.

" ARGH!" I replied.

'I HATE YOU. YOU THINK YOU KNOW EVERYTHING! IS IT EVEN OKAY TO CALL ME YOUR FRIEND? BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO ME THAT WE'RE NOT EVEN ACQUAINTANCES BUT STRANGERS!" Mia couldn't finish because of my sudden cry.

" Noemi, are you okay?" both James and Austin said as Mia left.

I….I get it now….so that's what she was worried about. This is what she was worried about? How could I have been so clueless? Am I a bad best friend?

"I'm fine. But someone should check on Mia." I said as I looked down, rubbing my arm softly, feeling guilty.

"You still care about her when you guys fought?" James asked me. "You humans are weird."

"Fine then. I'll go talk to her myself." I told them as I got up to go to the other cart.

"But our stop is almost here." James told me.

"And? I just want to make sure she's okay. Is that so bad? What if she leaves? Then I'll be stuck with two boys who-" I couldn't finish because Austin will know that I know.

I opened the cart door and went inside as I saw Mia sitting on a seat.

" Mia, are you okay? I'm sorry about earlier." I told her as I sat next to her.

"No, you shouldn't apologize. It was my fault in the first place. I'm sorry I said all those things to you. I'm just frustrated. " she told me as I hugged her.

"It's okay. I understand where you're coming from. " I told her.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"I know you like Austin even though you keep denying it." I told her.

"Then you must have good eyes. He never pays attention to me anyway so I don't see why it matters." she told me.

" SO MAKE HIM NOTICE YOU." I told her.

"How?" she asked me. " I don't want him to even know I like him." Mia tells me.

"Why?" I ask.

"Because...he likes you already so what chance do I have?" she asked me.

"Want me to tell him that I don't like him for you and just give up?" I asked her.

"Would you?" she asked.

"No." I told her. "I have to have a nice time to tell him." I replied.

"So what should I do?" Mia asked me.

"I don't know. What should you do?" I asked as I smirked at her.

I want her to figure this out herself. I've always been helping her out without her noticing sometimes.We went back to our original cart but then we heard…

" I WON'T. YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO, YOU IDIOT!"

" WHO ARE YOU CALLING AN IDIOT, IDIOT?"

"YOU IDIOT."

" JUST STAY AWAY FROM HER. SHE DOESN'T NEED SOMEONE LIKE YOU IN HER LIFE."

" AND IF I DON'T?"

THEN I'LL MAKE YOU."

"What's going on?" I ask them. "What are you guys talking about?"

" Noemi…." I heard James say.

"Your back already?" Austin asked me.

" Tell us what's going on. Now." Mia says as I look at her and she looks at me back, smiling as I smile back at her, while the boys stood there speechless.

"What's going on? They both ask us.

"Shouldn't you be telling us that?" we both asked them, having a serious face while the boys still stood speechless.

"It's nothing." Austin says.

"I'll tell you later." James tells me.

"You can't tell her." Austin says.

"Wimp." James says.

I feel like James will tell Austin that I like him and that I already knew about Austin liking me. What should I do then?
